Which companies sponsor visas for software engineers in Georgia?
Atlanta-headquartered companies including NCR Atleos, Cox Enterprises, Delta Technology, and Equifax have consistent records of sponsoring H-1B visas for software engineers. Global firms with large Georgia offices, such as Microsoft, Google, and Salesforce, also file substantial numbers of H-1B petitions for engineering roles in the state. DOL LCA disclosure data is the most reliable way to verify which employers have filed recently.
Which visa types are most common for software engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is by far the most common visa category for software engineers in Georgia, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a related field. L-1B visas apply when an engineer transfers from a foreign affiliate. Some candidates on F-1 OPT, including STEM OPT extensions of up to 24 months, work at Georgia companies while pursuing H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Georgia have the most software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming majority of software engineer visa sponsorship activity in Georgia, particularly in the Midtown, Buckhead, and Perimeter Center corridors. Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta, hosts a significant cluster of fintech and cybersecurity firms that regularly sponsor engineers. Outside metro Atlanta, opportunities are limited, making geographic flexibility within the Atlanta region an important factor for international job seekers.
How to find software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter software engineer roles in Georgia by visa sponsorship status, so every listing you see reflects employers actively willing to sponsor. This saves significant time compared to applying broadly and discovering sponsorship limitations later in the process. Georgia's Atlanta-based tech employers post regularly, making it worth checking Migrate Mate consistently as new roles appear.
Are there any Georgia-specific factors software engineers should know about visa sponsorship?
Georgia Tech's strong computer science and engineering programs create a well-established pipeline of international talent, which means many Atlanta-area employers already have HR and legal infrastructure in place for H-1B sponsorship. Georgia does not impose additional state-level restrictions on visa sponsorship. Prevailing wage compliance is determined by the Standard Occupational Classification for software developers under DOL guidelines, and employers must meet those thresholds regardless of state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
