INTRODUCTION
Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure (Garage / On-Prem) | Atlanta, GA | Onsite
Most infrastructure jobs end at the rack. This one ends at a vehicle that drives itself. We're hiring for a venture-backed autonomy company running self-driving industrial vehicles in live commercial operations. The fleet is out working today, not sat in a test yard. To keep it moving, someone has to own the physical infrastructure it depends on: the servers in the garage, the networking, and the path that software takes from a release branch to a machine in the field. That's this role.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'd own:
- On-prem garage servers and networking at the Atlanta site
- Software release delivery onto the autonomous vehicle fleet
- Data movement and offload from the vehicles back into the wider system
- Automation of all of the above, in Python and Bash
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
What we actually need:
- 7+ years in infrastructure or systems engineering
- Strong Linux and networking, at the physical layer as well as the logical one
- Real experience with data movement and offload at scale
- Python and Bash, with a software and automation mindset rather than a pure ops one
- Basic working proficiency in C++ is enough, you will not be writing autonomy code
You do not need an autonomy or robotics background. Edge infrastructure, telecoms, data centre, fleet and device management, and industrial systems backgrounds are all genuinely in scope and have all been hired from before.
Relocation support and visa sponsorship are both on the table, so if you're in the US or Europe and the rest of this fits, it's worth a conversation. Apply below and I'll come back to you with the full brief.

Which companies in Georgia sponsor visas for staff software engineers?
Atlanta-headquartered companies with active engineering teams, including NCR Voyix, Cox Enterprises, Delta Air Lines Technology, Equifax, and Global Payments, have established histories of H-1B visa sponsorship for senior engineering roles. Large technology consultancies and financial services firms with Georgia offices, such as Fiserv and Southern Company, also sponsor staff-level software engineers with some regularity.
Which visa types are most common for staff software engineer roles in Georgia?
The H-1B is the most commonly used visa for staff software engineers in Georgia, given that the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B intracompany transferee status or O-1A classification also appear in Georgia engineering teams, particularly at multinational employers with existing transfer pipelines.
Which cities in Georgia have the most staff software engineer sponsorship jobs?
Atlanta accounts for the overwhelming share of staff software engineer sponsorship activity in Georgia. Midtown Atlanta, anchored by Georgia Tech and a dense cluster of financial technology companies, and Buckhead, home to several Fortune 500 corporate headquarters, see the highest concentration. Alpharetta, a northern Atlanta suburb, hosts a significant fintech and cybersecurity corridor that also generates senior engineering roles with sponsorship.
How to find staff software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Georgia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse staff software engineer roles with confirmed sponsorship in Georgia. Because sponsorship willingness is not always stated in standard job postings, using a dedicated platform like Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to screening general listings. Filtering by Georgia and seniority level surfaces the most relevant opportunities in Atlanta and the surrounding metro.
Are there any Georgia-specific considerations for staff software engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Georgia does not impose state-level licensing requirements on software engineers, which simplifies sponsorship paperwork compared to regulated professions. The Atlanta metro's strong fintech and enterprise software concentration means many sponsoring employers operate under federal contractor status, which can affect LCA prevailing wage determinations. Georgia Tech's proximity also means some employers participate in OPT-to-H-1B hiring pipelines, creating established pathways for transitioning F-1 holders into staff-level roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored staff software engineer jobs in Georgia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
