Which companies in Idaho sponsor visas for cloud data engineers?
Micron Technology is among the most active H-1B sponsors for technical roles in Idaho, given its large semiconductor manufacturing and data infrastructure operations in Boise. Clearwater Analytics, HP Inc., and Blue Cross of Idaho have also appeared in Department of Labor disclosure data for sponsored technology positions. University of Idaho and Boise State University occasionally sponsor cloud and data engineering roles through cap-exempt pathways.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Idaho?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud data engineers in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field. The O-1A is an option for engineers with documented extraordinary ability. Candidates already on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension may work while an H-1B petition is pending.
Which cities in Idaho have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boise concentrates the large majority of cloud data engineer sponsorship activity in Idaho. The city hosts the state's most significant technology employers, including Micron Technology's headquarters and operations, along with a growing fintech and healthtech cluster. Nampa and Meridian, as part of the broader Treasure Valley metro area, have some secondary employer presence. Other Idaho cities have limited sponsorship activity for this role.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for cloud data engineer roles in Idaho without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role to surface relevant openings from employers like Micron Technology and Clearwater Analytics. Checking Department of Labor LCA disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate listings gives a fuller picture of which Idaho employers have recently sponsored similar positions.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking sponsorship in Idaho?
Idaho does not have a state-level visa sponsorship program, so federal H-1B rules govern the process entirely. Employers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying they will pay at least the prevailing wage for cloud data engineers in the Boise metro area, as determined by Department of Labor wage surveys. Micron Technology's presence creates a meaningful pipeline for international engineers, and Boise State University has produced graduate-level talent that some local employers have gone on to sponsor.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
