Which companies sponsor visas for cloud data engineers in Washington?
Microsoft, Amazon, and Google have sponsored cloud data engineers in Washington through H-1B visa filings disclosed in Department of Labor records. Smaller cloud-focused employers such as Tableau, Snowflake, and Zillow also appear in LCA disclosure data for this role. Washington's density of cloud-native and enterprise technology companies makes it one of the more active states for this type of sponsorship.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Washington?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud data engineers in Washington, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already holding L-1B status through an intracompany transfer are also well represented at large multinationals headquartered in the Seattle region, including Microsoft and Amazon.
Which cities in Washington have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Seattle and Redmond account for the large majority of cloud data engineer sponsorship activity in Washington, reflecting the headquarters presence of Amazon and Microsoft respectively. Bellevue has grown significantly as a secondary tech hub, with a number of cloud and data platform companies establishing offices there. Kirkland and Bothell see smaller but consistent hiring volumes, primarily from mid-size technology employers.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Washington?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles that come with visa sponsorship, which removes the guesswork of identifying which Washington employers will support an H-1B or other work visa. Searching for cloud data engineer roles on Migrate Mate surfaces positions from companies that have a documented history of sponsoring international candidates in Washington, helping you focus your applications where sponsorship is a realistic outcome.
Are there any Washington-specific factors cloud data engineers should know before applying for sponsored roles?
Washington has no state income tax, which affects the prevailing wage calculations employers use when filing Labor Condition Applications, since compensation benchmarks can differ from states with higher tax burdens. The University of Washington and Washington State University produce a steady pipeline of graduate-level talent in cloud and data engineering, which means sponsored candidates often compete alongside a strong local pool. Employers in Washington also tend to expect familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure given the regional dominance of Amazon and Microsoft.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Washington?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
