Which companies sponsor visas for cloud data engineers in Massachusetts?
Major sponsors in Massachusetts include Amazon Web Services, Google, Microsoft, Fidelity Investments, Liberty Mutual, Wayfair, and MathWorks. The Greater Boston biotech corridor, home to companies like Biogen and Sanofi, also hires cloud data engineers to support large-scale genomic and clinical data pipelines. Consulting firms such as Accenture and Deloitte maintain significant Massachusetts practices and have active sponsorship histories.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for cloud data engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT are frequently hired before H-1B visa sponsorship begins. The L-1B is also used for intracompany transfers at large multinationals with Massachusetts offices.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically for this search. You can filter by role and state to see cloud data engineer positions in Massachusetts where employers have active or historical visa sponsorship. Migrate Mate aggregates sponsoring employers based on DOL and USCIS disclosure data, so you're not guessing which companies will support an H-1B or other work visa. It saves significant time compared to manually researching each employer.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, anchored by the Route 128 tech corridor and proximity to MIT and Harvard. Waltham and Burlington are strong secondary markets, hosting regional headquarters for companies like Oracle and Thermo Fisher Scientific. Worcester is an emerging option, particularly as UMass Medical and local insurers build out their data infrastructure teams.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific factors cloud data engineers should know before applying for sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers filing H-1B petitions must meet DOL prevailing wage requirements for the Boston-Cambridge metropolitan area, which is one of the higher prevailing wage markets in the country. The state's deep university pipeline, including MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, means competition for sponsored roles is high. Many Massachusetts employers are familiar with sponsorship given the region's international talent concentration, but sponsorship is never guaranteed and varies by employer and role.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
