Which companies in Florida sponsor visas for cloud data engineers?
Florida-based sponsors for cloud data engineers include UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) in Weston, Chewy in Plantation, Citrix in Fort Lauderdale, and Lockheed Martin in Orlando. Large financial institutions with Florida operations, including Fidelity and Raymond James, have also filed H-1B visa petitions for data engineering roles involving cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Snowflake.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Florida?
The H-1B is the most common visa for cloud data engineers in Florida, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may pursue the TN visa under the USMCA. Those with an approved I-140 may also work on an H-1B extension beyond the standard six-year cap.
Which cities in Florida have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Miami and Fort Lauderdale lead in cloud data engineer sponsorship activity, driven by fintech companies, international banks, and Latin America-focused technology firms. Orlando follows closely due to defense contractors and simulation technology employers. Tampa has a growing concentration of healthcare IT companies that rely on cloud data infrastructure, making it another active market for sponsored engineering roles.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Florida?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for cloud data engineer roles in Florida without sorting through positions that won't support international candidates. You can filter by state and role to surface active postings from Florida employers who have a documented history of sponsoring H-1B and other work visas for data engineering positions.
Are there any Florida-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Florida has no state income tax, which affects prevailing wage comparisons since the Department of Labor sets H-1B wage floors by metropolitan area. Engineers targeting Miami or Orlando should note that local prevailing wages for cloud data roles differ meaningfully from national averages. Florida's large university system, including the University of Florida and Florida International University, also feeds OPT candidates into the local market, creating competition for sponsored roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Florida?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
