Which companies in Indiana sponsor visas for cloud data engineers?
Eli Lilly, Salesforce, Anthem (now Elevance Health), and Cummins have consistent H-1B sponsorship histories for cloud and data engineering roles in Indiana. Financial services firms like OneAmerica and Centaur Financial Group also sponsor, as do large logistics and manufacturing companies with significant data infrastructure needs headquartered in Indianapolis and surrounding areas.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud data engineers in Indiana, given that the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some candidates also enter on OPT or STEM OPT extensions before employer-sponsored H-1B petitions are filed. L-1B transfers occur at multinationals with Indiana offices.
Which cities in Indiana have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis accounts for the large majority of cloud data engineer sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its concentration of healthcare, insurance, and technology employers. Carmel and Fishers, both fast-growing Indianapolis suburbs, have become notable tech corridors with expanding company campuses. West Lafayette is worth monitoring given Purdue University's research partnerships and the tech companies that cluster nearby to access that talent pipeline.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search cloud data engineer roles in Indiana without sifting through postings from employers who don't sponsor. The platform is built for international candidates and surfaces openings from Indiana employers with active H-1B sponsorship histories. Filtering by state and role on Migrate Mate saves significant time compared to unfiltered job searches.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana employers must pay H-1B workers the prevailing wage for the relevant occupation and metropolitan statistical area, which for Indianapolis is set by the Department of Labor and reflects regional market rates. Purdue University graduates in computer science and data engineering are a well-known local talent pipeline, so employers there are generally familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions. The state's lower cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs can make compensation packages more competitive in real terms.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
