Which companies in Ohio sponsor visas for cloud data engineers?
Columbus-based employers like Nationwide Insurance, JPMorgan Chase's Ohio operations, and Huntington Bancshares have filed H-1B petitions for cloud and data engineering roles. In Cincinnati, Kroger Technology and 84.51° actively hire for cloud data positions. Cleveland's healthcare sector, including Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals, also sponsors international engineers for data infrastructure roles.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Ohio?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud data engineers in Ohio, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Candidates with a master's degree may benefit from the advanced degree exemption in the H-1B selection process. OPT and STEM OPT are also frequently used by recent graduates working toward sponsorship.
Which Ohio cities have the most cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs?
Columbus is Ohio's primary tech hub and accounts for the largest share of cloud data engineering roles, driven by financial services, insurance, and retail technology companies headquartered there. Cleveland follows, with demand concentrated in healthcare IT and manufacturing analytics. Cincinnati's growing data and analytics sector, anchored by Kroger and 84.51°, also generates consistent sponsorship opportunities for cloud data engineers.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Ohio?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Ohio employers actively hiring cloud data engineers who need work authorization. Rather than sorting through general job postings, you can browse roles already tagged for sponsorship in Ohio's key markets, including Columbus, Cleveland, and Cincinnati, across industries like fintech, healthcare IT, and retail analytics.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking sponsorship in Ohio?
Ohio has a strong pipeline of international talent through universities like Ohio State, Case Western Reserve, and the University of Cincinnati, all of which have large computer science and engineering programs. Employers familiar with sponsoring graduates from these institutions tend to have established H-1B filing processes. Ohio's cost of living relative to coastal tech hubs can also influence prevailing wage determinations filed with the Department of Labor for H-1B petitions.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Ohio?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
