Which companies sponsor visas for cloud data engineers in Montana?
Montana's sponsoring employers for cloud data engineers tend to be healthcare organizations like RightNow Technologies (now Oracle-acquired), state government IT contractors, and agricultural technology firms based in Bozeman and Missoula. National employers with Montana operations, including Oracle and some federal contractors, have filed H-1B Labor Condition Applications for data engineering roles in the state. Sponsoring employers are less concentrated here than in coastal tech hubs.
Which visa types are most common for cloud data engineer roles in Montana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for cloud data engineers in Montana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field. Australian nationals may qualify for the E-3 visa. Canadian and Mexican nationals working in cloud data engineering may be eligible for the TN visa under the USMCA trade agreement.
Which cities in Montana have the most cloud data engineer sponsorship jobs?
Bozeman leads Montana for cloud data engineering activity, driven by its growing tech sector and proximity to Montana State University. Missoula and Billings also see sporadic sponsorship postings, particularly from healthcare IT firms and government contractors. Helena occasionally surfaces roles tied to state agency technology modernization projects. Overall, sponsorship volume across all Montana cities is lower than major U.S. metro areas.
How to find cloud data engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Montana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for cloud data engineer roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, including in Montana. Because Montana's sponsoring employer pool is smaller than coastal states, searching Migrate Mate regularly and setting up alerts for Montana cloud data engineer positions gives you the best chance of catching new postings as they appear.
Are there state-specific considerations for cloud data engineers seeking sponsorship in Montana?
Montana is not a traditional H-1B filing hub, so employers here may have less in-house immigration infrastructure than firms in California or New York. Cloud data engineers should confirm early whether a prospective Montana employer has previously sponsored visas, as first-time sponsoring employers face additional compliance steps. Montana State University's computer science program creates a local graduate pipeline, which can influence how actively Bozeman-area employers recruit internationally.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored cloud data engineer jobs in Montana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
