INTRODUCTION
Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Checkout Product team is at the heart of this mission—powering Affirm’s core payment experience, frequently seen at merchant point of sale. This experience is distributed through direct merchant integrations and strategic platform partners, and is driven by a sophisticated, real-time, risk-based decisioning system spanning Identity, Fraud, Credit, and Pricing. We are looking for a Senior Director of Consumer Risk product to lead this critical surface area within Checkout. In this role, you will own the product vision, strategy, and execution across Credit, Pricing, and Fraud, enabling Affirm to grow responsibly while delivering best-in-class consumer and merchant experiences. Affirm’s proprietary underwriting is one of our greatest strengths. We only make money when consumers pay us back on time—aligning incentives and fundamentally reimagining how credit should work. As the leader of Consumer Risk product, you will help scale and evolve this system, balancing customer trust, merchant performance, and long-term business outcomes. This is a highly cross-functional, analytically rigorous, and commercially impactful role. You will lead and scale a team of Product Managers, partner deeply with Engineering, Machine Learning, Analytics, Risk, Finance, Legal, Design, and GTM teams, and influence senior leaders across the company.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Own the end-to-end product vision, strategy, and execution for Consumer Risk within Checkout, encompassing Credit decisioning, Pricing, and Fraud prevention
Translate Affirm’s mission into a clear product roadmap that balances growth, risk, customer trust, and platform scalability
Lead and scale a team of Product Managers owning distinct Consumer Risk surface areas, fostering a culture of accountability, learning, and high performance
Partner closely with Machine Learning, Analytics and Engineering to shape model-driven product experiences, including underwriting logic, pricing frameworks, fraud signals, and decisioning platforms
Drive quantitative storytelling—using data, experiments, and modeling to inform strategy, influence stakeholders, and guide tradeoffs
Champion a customer-first mindset, ensuring risk experiences are transparent, fair, and intuitive for consumers while delivering strong outcomes for merchants
Collaborate cross-functionally with Risk, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Design, Marketing, and GTM teams to deliver cohesive, scalable solutions
Set and own key performance metrics (e.g., approval rate, conversion, loss rate, unit economics, LTV, fraud outcomes, customer trust metrics) and hold teams accountable to results
Navigate complex organizational dynamics and influence senior stakeholders, including the executive team, with clear articulation of strategy, tradeoffs, and impact
Balance near-term execution with long-term platform investments, ensuring Consumer Risk capabilities scale with Affirm’s growth and partner ecosystem
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
12+ years of Product Management experience, including leadership roles on fast-paced teams driving responsible, sustainable growth
Deep experience working with Credit, Pricing, and/or Fraud stakeholders, with a strong understanding of:
+ Credit: underwriting tradeoffs, unit economics, loss management, regulatory considerations
+ Pricing: risk-based pricing, margin optimization, experimentation, and fairness considerations
+ Fraud: adversarial systems, real-time decisioning, false positive/negative tradeoffs, and customer trust
Strong quantitative and analytical orientation—comfortable engaging in model-level discussions, using data to drive decisions, and translating complexity into clear narratives
Experience building and scaling platform and decisioning products, not just surface-level UX
Proven track record of managing and mentoring large, geographically distributed PM teams
Commercially minded with a high-agency, bias-to-action mindset and comfort making hard tradeoffs in ambiguous environments
Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across functions and levels
Experience working in design-forward organizations that prioritize clarity, transparency, and high-quality user experiences
A systems thinker who can balance short-term business impact with long-term scalability and technical health
Fintech, payments, or risk-heavy consumer product experience is a strong plus

Which companies in Idaho sponsor visas for product directors?
Boise-based technology and financial software companies are the most active sponsors for product director roles in Idaho. Clearwater Analytics, Micron Technology, and Bodybuilding.com (now part of Liberty Media) have histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for senior product and technology roles. Outside Boise, Lamb Weston and several healthcare technology firms in the Treasure Valley also hire at the director level and have filed H-1B petitions in the past.
What visa types are most commonly used for product director roles in Idaho?
The H-1B visa is the most common pathway for product directors in Idaho, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as computer science, business, or engineering. Senior candidates with extraordinary achievement may explore the O-1A. Those already holding a green card priority date through EB-2 or EB-3 filings from a prior employer can also transfer sponsorship when changing roles within Idaho.
How to find product director visa sponsorship jobs in Idaho?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, and you can filter directly for product director roles in Idaho to see employers actively open to sponsoring. Because Idaho's tech market is smaller than hubs like Seattle or Austin, sponsored senior product roles appear less frequently, so setting up alerts on Migrate Mate and checking regularly gives you an advantage over candidates who search sporadically.
Which cities in Idaho have the most product director sponsorship opportunities?
Boise accounts for the large majority of product director sponsorship activity in Idaho. The Treasure Valley, which includes Nampa and Meridian, has seen substantial tech and fintech growth that supports senior product hiring. Idaho Falls has a smaller but growing technology presence tied to energy and government contracting sectors. Outside these areas, sponsored product director roles are uncommon, so most international candidates focus their Idaho search on the Boise metro.
Are there any Idaho-specific considerations for international product director candidates?
Idaho does not have a state income tax structure that creates unique advantages for sponsored workers, but its lower overall cost of living compared to California or Washington makes total compensation more competitive in practice. Boise's tech ecosystem is still maturing, so product director roles with sponsorship are less abundant than in major metros. Boise State University and University of Idaho produce local product talent, meaning employers may have less urgency to sponsor internationally unless a candidate brings a specialized background.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product director jobs in Idaho?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
