Which companies sponsor visas for product directors in California?
Large technology companies with significant California footprints are the most consistent sponsors for product director roles. Google, Apple, Meta, Salesforce, Adobe, Intuit, and Snap have active sponsorship programs and frequently hire at the director level. Enterprise software companies in the Bay Area and fintech firms in San Francisco also sponsor regularly, as do major streaming and media technology companies based in Los Angeles.
Which visa types are most common for product director roles in California?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa category for product directors in California, as the role typically requires a specialized bachelor's degree or higher in fields like computer science, engineering, or business. Senior candidates with extraordinary ability may qualify for the O-1A. Australians may use the E-3 visa, and Canadian or Mexican nationals may qualify under the TN visa for management consultant or engineer classifications depending on the specific role definition.
Which cities in California have the most product director sponsorship jobs?
The San Francisco Bay Area, including San Jose, Mountain View, Menlo Park, and Sunnyvale, accounts for the largest share of product director sponsorship opportunities in California. Los Angeles is a growing market, particularly in ad tech, streaming, and consumer apps. San Diego has a smaller but active cluster driven by biotech, defense technology, and cybersecurity companies that hire senior product leaders.
How to find product director visa sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to search for product director roles across California without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can narrow results by location, filtering for Bay Area or Los Angeles concentrations. Because product director roles are senior, sponsorship-confirmed listings help you prioritize outreach to companies already familiar with the visa process for leadership-level hires.
Are there any California-specific considerations for product director visa sponsorship?
California's prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program are among the highest in the country, reflecting the state's elevated cost of living, particularly in the Bay Area. Employers must certify that the offered wage meets the applicable Department of Labor prevailing wage level for the San Francisco, San Jose, or Los Angeles metropolitan area. This means sponsoring companies are typically well-resourced organizations with structured immigration programs rather than early-stage startups.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product director jobs in California?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
