INTRODUCTION
We’re seeking a Business Director, Product Strategy and Analysis, to support strategic priorities for the Consumer and Developer Experience (CDX) leadership team. CDX is an exciting space with diverse product responsibilities. The Consumer and Developer Experience (CDX) organization drives the critical platforms that power world-class digital engagement for our customers and best-in-class tools for the developers who build them. Our diverse portfolio spans the Capital One mobile app, advanced marketing and personalization engines, AI-driven platforms that transform how we build software, and essential enterprise risk and supplier capabilities. By unifying these consumer, developer, and enterprise operations, CDX accelerates our ability to modernize core systems, strengthen the company's risk posture, and deliver seamless experiences at massive scale.
The Business Director will join a horizontal product and strategy team that supports priorities across CDX. The product and strategy team serves as an internal engine for both vision and strategic alignment, occupying a unique space at the intersection of strategic advisory and product creation. We operate with the rigor of top-tier consulting to solve the organization’s hardest strategic questions, drive the annual planning process, and align our long-term priorities. At the same time, we are builders: we act as an innovation lab, developing prototypes and partnering closely with product and engineering teams to translate conceptual visions into tangible, scaled digital experiences. We are looking for a leader who thrives in this duality—someone who is equally energized by big-picture questions about where the world is going, thorny problems that require a strategic mindset and close partnership with product and tech teams, and hands-on building.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Specifically, the Business Director will:
- Partner with CDX leaders to define the business strategies for their respective areas
- Tackle thorny strategic questions throughout the business, using a consulting-style model
- Lead priority strategic initiatives for CDX, such as AI transformation
- Support the organization’s intelligence unit, providing analytics, landscape assessments, thematic deep dives, and more to help the organization see around corners and anticipate headwinds and tailwinds
- Set the vision for long-term product innovation, including partnering with engineering to deliver product prototypes
- Lead a fantastic team of strategy and product people leaders and ICs, investing heavily in their development and creating a pipeline of talent for the organization
- Obsess about internal and external customer satisfaction by establishing trusted, close touch relationships with key stakeholders throughout the company
- Cultivate a dynamic, customer centric and mission oriented Product culture, fostering collaboration, developing talent
- Role model AI adoption by inventing and spreading solutions that improve work efficiency, quality, and fun
The successful candidate will be a great strategic problem solver with a highly collaborative working style. They will excel at building relationships across organizational boundaries and using their strategy toolkit to drive consensus and impact. This leader should have the ability to work through ambiguity with an owner’s mindset and to build product strategy and processes that scale and adapt with growth and market shifts. This leader will be in an exciting position to drive business results, shape organizational culture, and impact both the associate and customer experiences.

Which companies sponsor visas for product directors in Virginia?
Northern Virginia's technology and defense sectors host some of the most active sponsors. Amazon Web Services, Capital One, Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, Perion, and Appian have all filed H-1B visa petitions for senior product roles. Government contracting firms in the Tysons and Reston corridors frequently need product directors with clearance-compatible backgrounds, though security clearance requirements can complicate sponsorship timelines for some international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for product director roles in Virginia?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for product directors in Virginia, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with significant industry recognition may pursue the O-1A. Those transferring within a multinational company can use the L-1A, which is particularly relevant given the number of global firms with Virginia offices.
Which cities in Virginia have the most product director sponsorship jobs?
Northern Virginia, particularly Tysons, Reston, McLean, and Arlington, concentrates the largest share of product director sponsorship opportunities due to its dense tech and defense contracting presence. Richmond has a growing fintech and financial services cluster anchored by Capital One's headquarters. Charlottesville and Herndon also generate product leadership roles, often tied to university-affiliated technology ventures and mid-size SaaS companies.
How to find product director visa sponsorship jobs in Virginia?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can browse product director roles in Virginia without sifting through positions that won't support international candidates. The platform surfaces opportunities across Northern Virginia's tech corridor, Richmond's fintech sector, and the broader state, letting you focus your search on employers who have an established history of sponsoring senior product talent.
Are there any state-specific considerations for product directors seeking sponsorship in Virginia?
Virginia's heavy concentration of federal contractors introduces a consideration not common elsewhere: many senior product roles require or prefer active security clearances, which are generally unavailable to non-U.S. citizens or permanent residents. This narrows the sponsoring employer pool somewhat, but commercial tech companies, financial services firms, and SaaS businesses in the state hire product directors without clearance requirements and do sponsor visas through established H-1B programs.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored product director jobs in Virginia?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
