Search Automotive Jobs in IllinoisAutomotive Green Card Sponsorship Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
Which automotive companies sponsor Green Card visas in Illinois?
Several large automotive suppliers and manufacturers with Illinois operations have sponsored Green Cards historically, including Bosch, Aptiv, Delphi Technologies, and Stellantis. Sponsorship is most common at companies with established HR infrastructure capable of managing the PERM labor certification process. Smaller regional suppliers may sponsor less frequently due to the administrative burden involved.
Which cities in Illinois have the most automotive Green Card sponsorship jobs?
The Chicago metropolitan area, particularly suburbs such as Schaumburg, Itasca, Libertyville, and Carol Stream, concentrates the majority of automotive engineering and technical roles in Illinois. Rockford and the Quad Cities region also host automotive manufacturing and supplier operations. Most Green Card sponsorship activity follows where major Tier 1 suppliers and OEM technical centers are located.
What types of automotive roles typically qualify for Green Card sponsorship in Illinois?
Roles that typically qualify include automotive engineers (mechanical, electrical, software, systems), quality engineers, manufacturing engineers, supply chain managers, and R&D specialists. These positions generally require at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, which supports EB-2 or EB-3 classification. Skilled trades and production roles may qualify under EB-3, though sponsorship is less common at that level.
How do I find automotive Green Card sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter by visa type, industry, and state to surface automotive roles in Illinois where employers have demonstrated willingness to sponsor Green Cards. Because sponsorship intent is often unlisted in standard job postings, using a platform like Migrate Mate that aggregates sponsorship-specific data saves significant time compared to searching general job boards.
Are there any Illinois-specific considerations for Green Card sponsorship in automotive?
Illinois does not have state-level immigration programs that affect Green Card eligibility, so federal PERM labor certification rules apply uniformly. However, Illinois's prevailing wage determinations and regional labor market conditions influence the PERM process, since employers must demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available at the offered wage. Roles in specialized engineering disciplines tend to clear this bar more consistently than general positions.
What is the prevailing wage for Green Card automotive jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
