Which companies sponsor visas for restaurant managers in Illinois?
Large hospitality employers with significant Illinois operations are the most active sponsors. Hotel brands including Hyatt, Marriott, and Hilton, which have major properties in Chicago, periodically sponsor experienced restaurant and food and beverage managers. Multi-unit restaurant groups such as Lettuce Entertain You and national chains with corporate or regional offices in Illinois have also filed sponsorship petitions for management roles.
Which visa types are most common for restaurant manager roles in Illinois?
The H-1B is the most commonly pursued visa for restaurant managers in Illinois, though it requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, typically supported by a hospitality management degree and demonstrated management responsibilities beyond general supervision. The L-1A is an option for managers transferring within a multinational company to an Illinois location. Some candidates from qualifying countries may explore the E-3 or TN categories depending on nationality.
Which cities in Illinois have the most restaurant manager sponsorship jobs?
Chicago accounts for the overwhelming majority of restaurant manager sponsorship activity in Illinois. The city's concentration of hotel properties, fine dining establishments, and multi-unit restaurant groups creates more sponsorship opportunities than the rest of the state combined. Suburban areas like Rosemont and Oak Brook, which host convention hotels and corporate dining operations, also see occasional sponsorship filings from larger hospitality employers.
How to find restaurant manager visa sponsorship jobs in Illinois?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters restaurant manager roles in Illinois by visa sponsorship willingness, saving you time sorting through postings from employers who won't sponsor. Because restaurant manager sponsorship is less common than in tech fields, searching Migrate Mate regularly and setting up alerts for Illinois hospitality roles gives you early visibility when qualified positions open with sponsoring employers.
Are there state-specific considerations for restaurant manager visa sponsorship in Illinois?
Illinois employers sponsoring H-1B workers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Chicago-Naperville-Elgin metropolitan area, which sets the wage floor for the role. Restaurant manager positions in Illinois also face closer USCIS scrutiny on specialty occupation eligibility, so employers typically need to document that the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree and involves complex managerial duties rather than general floor supervision.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored restaurant manager jobs in Illinois?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
