Which companies sponsor visas for architectural engineers in Indiana?
Indiana firms with a history of sponsoring architectural engineers include American Structurepoint, RQAW Corporation, Ratio Architects, and DLZ Indiana. Larger national firms with Indiana offices, such as AECOM and WSP, also file H-1B petitions for architectural engineering roles. Sponsorship activity tends to concentrate in Indianapolis, where the bulk of commercial and institutional project work is based.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for architectural engineers in Indiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may also be eligible for the TN visa under the USMCA, which has no annual lottery. Australians may qualify for the E-3 visa, which similarly bypasses the H-1B cap.
Which cities in Indiana have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the majority of architectural engineering sponsorship activity in Indiana, driven by its commercial construction sector, state government infrastructure projects, and proximity to Purdue and Indiana University campuses. Fort Wayne and Evansville have smaller but active markets, particularly for firms working on regional infrastructure and institutional buildings. South Bend also sees activity tied to University of Notre Dame campus development projects.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international candidates and filters architectural engineer roles in Indiana by visa sponsorship status, so you're not manually sorting through postings where sponsorship is unclear. Given that Indiana's market is concentrated among a relatively small group of active sponsors, using Migrate Mate to track which firms are currently hiring architectural engineers in the state saves significant time during a job search.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers pursuing sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana does not require state licensure as a condition of H-1B sponsorship, but many employers expect candidates to be working toward PE or ARE credentials. Purdue University's strong architectural and civil engineering programs create a local graduate pipeline, which means sponsored roles often go to candidates with specialized skills or prior work experience that distinguishes them from the domestic applicant pool. Prevailing wage compliance under the H-1B applies uniformly regardless of state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
