Which companies sponsor visas for backend engineers in Indiana?
Several large employers in Indiana have documented histories of sponsoring work visas for backend engineers. Salesforce, Eli Lilly, Cummins, Roche Diagnostics, and Infosys all maintain engineering operations in the state and appear regularly in Department of Labor H-1B visa disclosure data. Consulting and IT services firms with Indiana offices also account for a significant share of backend engineering sponsorship filings.
Which visa types are most common for backend engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for backend engineers in Indiana, as software development roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. L-1B visas appear for engineers transferring within multinational companies. Australians may be eligible for the E-3 visa, and Canadian and Mexican nationals can explore the TN visa under the software engineer category.
Which cities in Indiana have the most backend engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis is by far the dominant market for backend engineering in Indiana, home to the state's largest concentration of technology employers, healthcare IT companies, and enterprise software teams. Bloomington has a smaller but active tech scene supported by Indiana University's computer science pipeline. Fort Wayne and Carmel also have emerging technology employers, though sponsorship volume there is lower than Indianapolis.
How to find backend engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to focus on Indiana backend engineer positions without sorting through companies unlikely to sponsor. You can filter by state and role type to surface relevant openings. Migrate Mate also provides visa-specific guidance to help you understand which opportunities align with your immigration situation.
Are there any Indiana-specific considerations for backend engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Indiana's tech hiring is heavily tied to life sciences IT, logistics technology, and enterprise software, meaning backend engineers with experience in those verticals may find stronger employer fit locally. Indiana University and Purdue University produce a steady pipeline of international computing graduates who enter the H-1B sponsorship process, so employers in the state are generally familiar with the sponsorship workflow, particularly in Indianapolis.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored backend engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
