Which companies in Indiana sponsor visas for electrical engineering technicians?
Indiana employers with documented H-1B visa sponsorship activity in technical roles include Cummins, Eli Lilly, Raytheon Technologies, Stellantis, and Subaru of Indiana Automotive. Defense contractors and advanced manufacturers in the Fort Wayne and Indianapolis corridors appear most frequently in Department of Labor disclosure data for electrical engineering technician sponsorships. Sponsorship decisions vary by role, headcount, and the employer's existing immigration infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for electrical engineering technician roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common work visa for electrical engineering technicians in Indiana, provided the specific role meets the specialty occupation standard, which generally requires at least a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a closely related field. The TN visa is available to Canadian and Mexican nationals whose roles fall under the engineer classification under USMCA. Some positions may also be filled through the EB-3 employment-based green card category.
Which cities in Indiana have the most electrical engineering technician sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis sees the highest volume of electrical engineering technician openings with sponsorship potential, driven by its concentration of pharmaceutical manufacturing, defense, and technology firms. Fort Wayne is the second most active market, anchored by automotive suppliers and electronics manufacturers. Kokomo, home to several Stellantis and semiconductor-related facilities, also generates consistent demand. Columbus, Indiana, where Cummins is headquartered, is worth targeting for power systems and engine-related technician roles.
How to find electrical engineering technician visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for roles where employers have indicated visa sponsorship availability, saving you the time of screening hundreds of postings manually. For electrical engineering technician roles in Indiana, you can filter by state and role category to see active openings from manufacturers, defense contractors, and engineering firms across Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and beyond. Migrate Mate also surfaces employer sponsorship history to help you prioritize applications.
Are there state-specific considerations for electrical engineering technicians seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana's heavy presence in automotive manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, and defense means electrical engineering technician roles often sit within specialized production environments, and employers tend to require hands-on experience with industrial control systems, PLCs, or power distribution. Purdue University and Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis produce a steady pipeline of engineering graduates, which means employer familiarity with international student hiring on OPT is relatively high. Prevailing wage requirements for H-1B petitions are determined by the Department of Labor based on the specific occupation and county, not statewide averages.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electrical engineering technician jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
