Which companies sponsor visas for IT support engineers in Indiana?
Indianapolis-based employers are the most active sponsors for IT support engineer roles in Indiana. Eli Lilly, Salesforce, Anthem, and Cummins have established H-1B sponsorship histories. Large healthcare systems like Indiana University Health and Franciscan Health also file petitions for IT support positions. Staffing and IT services firms operating in Indiana are additional sponsorship sources, particularly for contract-to-hire arrangements.
Which visa types are most common for IT support engineer roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for IT support engineers in Indiana, though the role must qualify as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field. Some candidates enter through the TN visa if they are Canadian or Mexican citizens under USMCA. F-1 graduates on OPT or STEM OPT frequently pursue Indiana-based IT support roles before transitioning to H-1B sponsorship.
Which cities in Indiana have the most IT support engineer sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis concentrates the majority of IT support engineer sponsorship opportunities in Indiana, driven by its healthcare, financial services, and corporate headquarters sectors. Bloomington sees demand tied to Indiana University's technology operations and affiliated employers. Fort Wayne has a smaller but active market linked to manufacturing and logistics companies investing in IT infrastructure. Carmel and Fishers, as Indianapolis suburbs with growing tech campuses, are worth targeting as well.

Reviewing employer H-1B disclosure data alongside Migrate Mate listings helps confirm which companies are actively filing petitions for this role type.
What should IT support engineers know about Indiana's sponsorship market before applying?
Indiana employers sponsoring IT support engineers must file a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets the prevailing wage for the role and location, as determined by Department of Labor data for the Indianapolis or relevant metropolitan area. IT support roles can face scrutiny during H-1B adjudication because the specialty occupation determination depends on demonstrating the position requires a specific bachelor's degree, not just any degree. Candidates with degrees in computer science, information systems, or a closely related field are better positioned for approval.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored it support engineer jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
