Which companies sponsor visas for OTs in Indiana?
Major health systems are the most consistent visa sponsors for occupational therapists in Indiana. IU Health, Ascension St. Vincent, Franciscan Health, Parkview Health, and Eskenazi Health have all hired internationally trained OTs. Long-term care operators like Trilogy Health Services and Kindred Healthcare also sponsor, particularly for SNF and rehab settings where OT demand remains high year-round.
Which visa types are most common for OT roles in Indiana?
The H-1B is the primary work visa for occupational therapists in Indiana, as OT meets the specialty occupation standard given its required master's-level education. The EB-3 employment-based green card is a common longer-term pathway, often used alongside H-1B status. Some Indiana employers also sponsor the TN visa for Canadian and Mexican OT graduates, and EB-2 NIW petitions are occasionally used for roles with a demonstrated public benefit component.
How to find ot visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana?
Migrate Mate is the most targeted way to find OT visa sponsorship jobs in Indiana specifically. The platform filters roles by sponsorship willingness, so you're not sorting through postings from employers who won't support international candidates. Indiana has strong OT demand in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and the South Bend area, and Migrate Mate surfaces roles across hospital systems, outpatient clinics, and SNFs in those markets.
Which cities in Indiana have the most OT sponsorship jobs?
Indianapolis is by far the largest market, anchored by IU Health's network, Ascension facilities, and Eskenazi Health. Fort Wayne is the second-largest hub, with Parkview Health and Lutheran Health Network as the main employers. South Bend and the Michiana region have consistent OT openings through Beacon Health System. Smaller markets like Evansville and Muncie also hire OTs but offer fewer sponsorship opportunities overall.
Are there state-specific considerations for OTs seeking sponsorship in Indiana?
Indiana requires OTs to hold a state license issued by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency before practicing, and most employers expect licensure to be in place or actively in progress before a start date. International candidates whose credentials were earned outside the United States typically need to have their education verified through NBCOT and pass the certification exam before applying for Indiana licensure. Hospital systems in Indiana tend to have dedicated credentialing staff familiar with internationally trained OTs, which can streamline the process.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored ot jobs in Indiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
