About us
Since 1945, U-Haul has been serving do-it-yourself movers and their households. Like many other successful ventures, the concept for U-Haul was generated out of need. After World War II, there existed the widespread need for do-it-yourself moving equipment that would be available on a one-way, nationwide basis.
U-Haul co-founders L.S. "Sam" Shoen and his wife, Anna Mary Carty Shoen, recognized that need and acted upon it. Their visionary approach spread the cost of ownership among many users, facilitating the mobility of the populations of the U.S. and Canada. The covered wagon of the pioneers morphed into orange U-Haul trailers. In the process, an industry was born.
U-Haul Holding Company and its family of companies, including U-Haul, have strived to create a culture of health and wellness. As of February 1, 2020, and consistent with applicable law, no U-Haul Holding Company or its family of companies will hire individuals in states where it may lawfully decline to hire individuals who use nicotine products (Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Nebraska, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia and Washington). This policy will not apply to team members hired before February 1, 2020.

Which e-commerce companies sponsor visas in Iowa?
Major Iowa employers include Hy-Vee, which has expanded its digital operations significantly, Casey's General Stores for their online platform development, and Principal Financial Group for their digital customer experiences. Additionally, logistics companies like CRST International and regional retailers transitioning to e-commerce models actively sponsor H-1B visa and other work visas for technical roles including software developers, data analysts, and digital marketing specialists.
How to find e-commerce visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Start with Migrate Mate to browse current e-commerce visa sponsorship opportunities specifically in Iowa. Focus on Des Moines and Cedar Rapids where most tech companies are located. Target established Iowa companies expanding their digital presence, as they often need international talent for specialized e-commerce roles like platform development, digital marketing automation, and data analytics to support their growing online operations.
Which visa types are most common for e-commerce roles in Iowa?
H-1B visas dominate for software developers, data scientists, and digital marketing specialists in Iowa's e-commerce sector. O-1 visas are used for senior technical leads or those with exceptional achievements in e-commerce platform development. L-1 visas are common for international companies with Iowa operations, while TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying technical roles at companies like Hy-Vee and Casey's.
Which cities in Iowa have the most e-commerce sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines leads with companies like Hy-Vee, Principal Financial Group, and numerous insurance companies building digital platforms. Cedar Rapids follows with established businesses expanding online operations. Ankeny and West Des Moines house many corporate headquarters investing in e-commerce capabilities. Smaller opportunities exist in Iowa City near the University of Iowa, where some startups and established companies recruit international talent for technical roles.
What are the prevailing wage considerations for e-commerce roles in Iowa?
Iowa's Department of Labor sets prevailing wages that are generally lower than coastal markets but competitive regionally. E-commerce software developers typically see wages ranging from entry-level to senior positions, with digital marketing specialists and data analysts following similar patterns. Companies must meet these wage requirements for H-1B sponsorship, making Iowa an attractive option for employers seeking cost-effective international talent while meeting federal requirements.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored e-commerce jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
