Which electronics companies sponsor visas in Iowa?
Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids is Iowa's largest electronics visa sponsor, regularly filing H-1B petitions for aerospace electronics engineers and systems developers. John Deere sponsors for agricultural electronics and automation roles in Waterloo and Ankeny. Rockwell Collins (now part of Collins Aerospace), CRST International's technology division, and smaller firms like Integrated DNA Technologies also sponsor for specialized electronics positions.
How to find electronics visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Start with Migrate Mate, which filters electronics jobs specifically by visa sponsorship availability in Iowa. Focus your search on Cedar Rapids and Des Moines metro areas where most electronics employers are located. Target aerospace electronics, agricultural technology, and manufacturing automation companies, as these sectors have the strongest track record of sponsoring international workers in Iowa's electronics industry.
Which visa types are most common for electronics roles in Iowa?
H-1B visas dominate electronics sponsorship in Iowa, particularly for electrical engineers, embedded systems developers, and RF engineers at Collins Aerospace and John Deere. O-1 visas occasionally appear for exceptional talent in aerospace electronics or agricultural technology innovation. TN visas serve Canadian and Mexican engineers, while L-1 transfers support international electronics companies with Iowa operations.
Which cities in Iowa have the most electronics sponsorship jobs?
Cedar Rapids leads with Collins Aerospace's massive aerospace electronics operations and associated suppliers. Des Moines follows with John Deere's technology centers and growing fintech electronics needs. Dubuque offers opportunities with IBM's presence and manufacturing electronics firms. Waterloo provides agricultural electronics roles, while Iowa City benefits from University of Iowa research collaborations in medical electronics.
What are Iowa's prevailing wage requirements for electronics visa roles?
Iowa's electronics prevailing wages reflect the state's lower cost of living compared to coastal tech hubs, making visa sponsorship more economically viable for employers. Entry-level electrical engineers typically see prevailing wages around $70,000-80,000, while senior electronics engineers and specialized roles in aerospace or agricultural technology command higher rates. Iowa's Department of Labor publishes state-specific prevailing wage determinations for electronics occupations.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored electronics jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
