Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for project managers?
Principal Financial Group, John Deere, Collins Aerospace, UnityPoint Health, and Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield have all sponsored work visas for project managers in Iowa. Large manufacturing and insurance firms in the state tend to have established HR infrastructure for sponsorship, making them more likely to support H-1B petitions than smaller regional employers.
Which visa types are most common for project manager roles in Iowa?
The H-1B is the most common visa for project managers in Iowa, particularly for roles requiring a bachelor's degree in engineering, information technology, or business. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the NAFTA-successor category for management consultants. L-1A intracompany transferee visas are also used when a candidate is relocating from a foreign office of an Iowa-based multinational.
Which cities in Iowa have the most project manager visa sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the largest share of project manager sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance, financial services, and healthcare employers. Cedar Rapids is a secondary hub with manufacturing and technology firms, including Collins Aerospace. Waterloo and Iowa City also generate sponsorship opportunities through agricultural technology companies and the University of Iowa health system, respectively.
How to find project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters project manager jobs in Iowa specifically by visa sponsorship availability, saving you the time of screening through postings that don't support international candidates. You can browse current openings across Des Moines, Cedar Rapids, and other Iowa cities, with roles spanning manufacturing, healthcare, and financial services sectors that have active sponsorship histories.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa employers filing H-1B petitions for project managers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Des Moines or Cedar Rapids metropolitan areas, which differ from national averages. Iowa State University and the University of Iowa produce engineering and MBA graduates who enter the local talent pipeline, so employers in Ames and Iowa City are sometimes more familiar with OPT-to-H-1B transitions than employers in smaller markets.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored project manager jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
