Which companies sponsor visas for data science engineers in Kansas?
Employers with a documented history of sponsoring H-1B visas for data and engineering roles in Kansas include Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro area, and Koch Industries-affiliated companies in Wichita. Agricultural technology firms and financial services companies in Overland Park have also filed Labor Condition Applications for data science positions in recent years.
Which visa types are most common for data science engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most frequently used visa category for data science engineers in Kansas, as these roles typically qualify as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already in the U.S. on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT extension may also work for sponsoring employers while an H-1B petition is pending.
How to find data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify Kansas employers actively hiring data science engineers who are willing to sponsor. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can search by role and state to surface verified sponsorship opportunities in Wichita, Overland Park, and the broader Kansas City corridor.
Which cities in Kansas have the most data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park, as part of the greater Kansas City metro, has the highest concentration of data science sponsorship activity in Kansas, driven by technology, financial services, and healthcare IT employers. Wichita is the second-largest hub, supported by aerospace and manufacturing companies with engineering-heavy workforces. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, also sees occasional postings connected to research and tech spinouts.
Are there state-specific considerations for data science engineers seeking sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas does not have state-level visa programs, so federal H-1B rules and Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements govern all sponsorships. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University both produce data science graduates and maintain employer pipelines that can be relevant for international candidates already studying in-state. Aerospace and agri-tech are the industries most likely to have recurring sponsorship needs in Kansas specifically.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
