Which technology companies sponsor F-1 STEM OPT visas in Kansas?
Kansas employers with documented STEM OPT sponsorship activity include Garmin, which maintains a significant engineering and software presence in Olathe, as well as Cerner (now Oracle Health) in the Kansas City metro and Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita. Smaller technology firms in fintech and defense contracting also sponsor OPT candidates, particularly for software engineering, data analytics, and systems integration roles.
Which cities in Kansas have the most technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs?
Overland Park and Olathe, both in Johnson County within the Kansas City metro, account for the largest share of Kansas technology sponsorship jobs. Wichita is the second major hub, driven by aerospace and manufacturing technology employers. Lawrence, home to the University of Kansas, also sees local technology hiring from startups and university-affiliated technology organizations that occasionally sponsor STEM OPT candidates.
What types of technology roles typically qualify for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship?
Roles that commonly qualify include software engineer, data scientist, systems analyst, cybersecurity analyst, embedded systems engineer, and cloud infrastructure engineer. To qualify for STEM OPT, the position must be directly related to your STEM degree field and must be with an E-Verify enrolled employer offering at least 20 hours of work per week. O*NET classification and your DSO confirm whether a specific role qualifies.
How do I find technology F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters technology jobs specifically by visa sponsorship type, so you can search F-1 STEM OPT-eligible roles in Kansas without sorting through employers who don't sponsor. The platform surfaces companies with active OPT hiring history in cities like Overland Park, Olathe, and Wichita, focusing on technology roles in software, data, and engineering that align with STEM degree fields.
Are there any state-specific considerations for F-1 STEM OPT sponsorship in Kansas technology roles?
Kansas does not impose state-level visa sponsorship requirements beyond federal USCIS and DOL rules, but technology employers in the state frequently work in defense and aerospace sectors that may involve security clearance requirements. Candidates without U.S. citizenship or permanent residency are generally ineligible for clearance-dependent roles, which narrows the qualifying pool. Confirming clearance requirements with each employer before applying is advisable.
