Which companies sponsor visas for lead software engineers in Kansas?
Garmin in Olathe is one of the most consistent visa sponsors for senior engineering roles in Kansas, with a strong track record of H-1B filings for software positions. Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro area also sponsors regularly. Other active sponsors include Sprint (now part of T-Mobile) and mid-size aerospace technology contractors supporting the Wichita aviation corridor.
Which visa types are most common for lead software engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the primary visa category for lead software engineers in Kansas, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some candidates also enter on L-1A or L-1B visas through intracompany transfers, particularly at large multinationals with Kansas operations.
Which cities in Kansas have the most lead software engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Olathe and Overland Park area in Johnson County generates the highest concentration of lead software engineer sponsorship opportunities, largely because of Garmin's headquarters and a dense cluster of technology employers along the I-435 corridor. Wichita is the second most active market, driven by aerospace technology firms. Kansas City, Kansas contributes additional volume through healthcare IT employers.
How to find lead software engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to roles where employers have a demonstrated history of visa sponsorship, making it more efficient than broad searches for lead software engineer positions in Kansas. You can filter by state to surface openings at Garmin, Oracle Health, and other Kansas-based sponsors. Migrate Mate's focus on sponsorship-confirmed roles saves significant time when targeting senior engineering positions in a smaller state market.
Are there any state-specific considerations for lead software engineer sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Lead software engineer roles in Kansas often fall within the aerospace and defense supply chain, meaning some positions require security clearances that can complicate or limit sponsorship for non-citizens. Employers in Wichita tied to Boeing or Spirit AeroSystems may have additional citizenship or clearance requirements. Outside defense, Johnson County's commercial tech sector has fewer restrictions, making it the more accessible market for international candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored lead software engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
