Which companies and organizations sponsor visas for principals in Kansas?
Kansas school districts are the primary sponsors for principal roles, including Wichita Public Schools (USD 259), Shawnee Mission School District, Blue Valley USD, and Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools. Some private and charter school networks also sponsor visas. Outside K-12 education, the title 'principal' appears in technology and consulting firms in Overland Park and Wichita, where companies in aerospace, engineering, and IT services have sponsored work visas for senior individual contributors.
Which visa types are most common for principal roles in Kansas?
The H-1B visa is the most common path for principal roles in Kansas, particularly for education administrators with qualifying master's or doctoral degrees and for senior technical principals in engineering or IT. School districts occasionally use the J-1 visa exchange visitor visa for educational roles. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for the TN visa under the USMCA if their role meets the applicable specialty occupation criteria.
Which cities in Kansas have the most principal visa sponsorship jobs?
Wichita has the largest concentration of principal sponsorship opportunities in Kansas, driven by its sizable K-12 school system and aerospace industry employers. Overland Park, part of the Kansas City metro area, leads for private-sector principal roles in technology and consulting. Topeka, as the state capital, offers opportunities through state government-affiliated institutions and its own school districts. Lawrence also sees some activity through the University of Kansas and surrounding districts.
How to find principal visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship in the United States. You can filter by state and role to find principal positions in Kansas where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Because Migrate Mate focuses exclusively on sponsorship-eligible listings, it removes the need to manually screen hundreds of postings to determine which employers will support a work visa application for a principal role.
Are there state-specific considerations for principals seeking visa sponsorship in Kansas?
Kansas requires school principals to hold a valid Kansas building leadership license issued by the Kansas State Department of Education. International candidates sponsored for principal roles in K-12 settings will need to verify their credentials meet state licensure standards, which may require an evaluation of foreign degrees. For technical principal roles in Wichita's aerospace sector, employers typically assess whether the role qualifies as a specialty occupation under Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements before filing an H-1B visa petition.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored principal jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
