Which companies sponsor visas for restaurant jobs in Kansas?
National hospitality groups with a significant Kansas presence, including Darden Restaurants (Olive Garden, LongHorn Steakhouse) and large franchise operators in the Wichita and Kansas City metro areas, have historically filed for work visa sponsorship in restaurant roles. Corporate-owned locations are more likely to sponsor than independent restaurants, which typically lack the legal infrastructure to manage petition filings.
Which visa types are most common for restaurant roles in Kansas?
H-2B visas are the most common for seasonal front-of-house and kitchen support roles, covering temporary nonagricultural workers. H-1B visas apply narrowly to restaurant management positions requiring a relevant bachelor's degree, such as regional operations managers. EB-3 immigrant visas are sometimes used for permanent skilled or unskilled restaurant workers at employers willing to complete the PERM labor certification process.
Which cities in Kansas have the most restaurant visa sponsorship jobs?
Wichita accounts for the largest share of Kansas restaurant sponsorship activity, driven by its size as the state's largest city and its concentration of hotel-adjacent dining and chain restaurant clusters. Overland Park and Kansas City (Kansas side) also generate sponsorship opportunities, particularly around the College Boulevard corridor and mixed-use developments with high-volume restaurant tenants.
How to find restaurant visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate is specifically built for international job seekers and filters restaurant roles in Kansas by visa sponsorship eligibility, saving you from applying to positions where sponsorship isn't available. You can search by role type and location to surface Kansas-based restaurant employers who have indicated sponsorship willingness, which is particularly useful for cooks, kitchen managers, and food service supervisors navigating H-2B or H-1B pathways.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for restaurant visa sponsorship?
Kansas employers sponsoring H-2B workers for restaurant roles must demonstrate that qualified U.S. workers are unavailable for the position and that hiring foreign nationals won't adversely affect local wages. Wichita's hospitality sector, which serves a large aviation industry workforce, creates recurring seasonal demand that some employers use to support H-2B temporary need documentation. Prevailing wage compliance is verified through Department of Labor filings regardless of the specific Kansas city.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored restaurant jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
