Which companies in Kansas sponsor visas for senior data science engineers?
Companies with a track record of sponsoring senior data science engineers in Kansas include Oracle Health (formerly Cerner) in the Kansas City metro, Garmin in Olathe, and Evergy in Kansas City. Larger financial services firms and agricultural technology companies operating in the state have also filed Labor Condition Applications for data science roles. Sponsorship activity is most consistent at mid-to-large enterprises with established HR and legal infrastructure.
What visa types are most common for senior data science engineer roles in Kansas?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for senior data science engineers in Kansas, as the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, statistics, or a related field. Candidates already holding O-1A status or transferring from another employer on an H-1B can use cap-exempt or portability pathways. Some employers in Kansas also support EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship for long-term hires.
Which cities in Kansas have the most senior data science engineer sponsorship jobs?
The Kansas City metro area, including Overland Park, Olathe, and Lenexa on the Kansas side, accounts for the majority of senior data science engineer sponsorship activity in the state. Wichita is a secondary hub, driven by aerospace companies like Spirit AeroSystems and Boeing's local operations, which increasingly use data engineering for manufacturing and supply chain analytics. Lawrence and Manhattan have smaller markets tied to university research partnerships.
How to find senior data science engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kansas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse senior data science engineer roles in Kansas without manually screening out positions that don't sponsor. You can filter by state and role to surface relevant openings at Kansas employers actively seeking sponsored candidates. This saves significant time compared to sorting through general job listings where sponsorship status is rarely stated upfront.
Are there any Kansas-specific considerations for senior data science engineers seeking visa sponsorship?
Kansas employers must comply with Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements for the Kansas City or Wichita metro areas, which are calculated separately from major coastal markets. The state's concentration in health IT, agriculture technology, and aviation means senior data science engineers with domain expertise in those industries are more competitive locally. The University of Kansas and Kansas State University also produce OPT-eligible graduates that some employers consider alongside sponsored candidates.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior data science engineer jobs in Kansas?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
