Which companies sponsor visas for architectural engineers in Kentucky?
Engineering and architecture firms with consistent sponsorship histories in Kentucky include Messer Construction, Brandstetter Carroll, and national firms with Louisville or Lexington offices such as AECOM and Jacobs Engineering. State agencies and large hospital systems, including UK HealthCare and Norton Healthcare, also hire architectural engineers for facilities and capital projects and have sponsored work visas for qualified international candidates.
Which visa types are most common for architectural engineer roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for architectural engineers in Kentucky, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a relevant bachelor's degree or higher. Some candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify under the TN visa category. Employers filing Labor Condition Applications with the Department of Labor must meet prevailing wage requirements set for the Louisville or Lexington metropolitan statistical areas.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most architectural engineer sponsorship jobs?
Louisville accounts for the largest share of architectural engineer sponsorship activity in Kentucky, driven by commercial construction, healthcare infrastructure, and government projects. Lexington is the second most active market, supported by the University of Kentucky's capital programs and a growing tech and healthcare sector. Frankfort occasionally has openings tied to state government facilities work, though volume is lower than the two major metros.
How to find architectural engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it practical to search for architectural engineer roles in Kentucky without sorting through positions that don't offer sponsorship. You can filter by state and role to see which Kentucky employers are actively hiring and willing to sponsor. Migrate Mate also provides context on which firms have a track record of filing H-1B petitions in this field.
Are there state-specific considerations for architectural engineers seeking sponsorship in Kentucky?
Kentucky requires architectural engineers who stamp and seal drawings to hold a Professional Engineer license issued by the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. International candidates on H-1B status can pursue licensure, but the exam and experience requirements still apply. University of Kentucky and University of Louisville alumni networks are worth engaging, as both schools have industry partnerships that sometimes connect international graduates with sponsoring employers in the state.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored architectural engineer jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
