DESCRIPTION
AWS Infrastructure Services is the backbone of Amazon's cloud computing operations, responsible for every aspect of AWS's global infrastructure — from design and planning to delivery and operations. Our team ensures millions of customers have uninterrupted access to AWS services by managing data centers worldwide, including all servers, storage systems, networks, and critical facility infrastructure. We tackle complex supply chain challenges at an unprecedented scale, optimizing thousands of variables to keep the cloud running smoothly. We're seeking innovative problem-solvers ready to help shape the future of global cloud infrastructure.
You'll join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You'll collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers — all within an inclusive culture that welcomes bold ideas and empowers you to own them to completion.
The AWS Cloud Logistics team is seeking an experienced Supply Chain professional to join our Florence, KY location. In this role, you'll take ownership of transportation operations for one of the world's fastest-growing industries, driving continuous improvement and leading day-to-day operational execution with limited oversight. This is a hands-on operations role where no two days look the same — you'll regularly navigate ambiguous situations, make sound judgment calls, and find practical solutions without always having a defined playbook to follow.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You operate with autonomy, own your segment of the business end-to-end, and know when to escalate versus when to act. You're comfortable working through uncertainty, building structure where it doesn't exist, and keeping operations running smoothly even when the path forward isn't always clear.
This role is a great fit if you:
- Take full ownership of a transportation mode or customer-focused subset within the region, including SOP creation and process documentation
- Thrive on leading and participating in cross-functional improvement projects
- Drive automation and process simplification initiatives independently
- Mentor peers and serve as a point of escalation and support for team members
- Communicate performance insights clearly through regular business reviews with Logistics Service Providers and senior leadership
- Are energized by ambiguity and can prioritize effectively when problems and solutions aren't yet well-defined
Key job responsibilities
- Own and manage day-to-day transportation operations for an assigned segment, including SOP development and ongoing process improvement
- Navigate ambiguous operational situations with sound judgment, escalating risks and roadblocks proactively while providing recommended solutions
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to eliminate recurring transportation defects and inefficiencies
- Own performance metrics and dashboards; present findings in regular business reviews with Logistics Service Providers and senior leadership
- Program manage standard customer requirements and operational initiatives, maintaining a consistent focus on best-in-class service
- Identify and act on process improvement opportunities to optimize overall operational effectiveness and achieve performance targets
- Collaborate across Supply Chain teams to develop and implement standardized solutions with limited oversight
- Mentor and peer coach team members; serve as a point of escalation and support for newly hired employees
- Actively engage in hiring activities and contribute to document reviews with senior leadership audiences
- Develop and maintain effective communication with Business Partners and external stakeholders

Search Supply Chain Manager Jobs in KentuckySupply Chain Manager Jobs in Kentucky: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for supply chain managers in Kentucky?
Louisville-based employers with established sponsorship track records include UPS, Humana, and Amazon, which operates multiple fulfillment and logistics facilities across the state. Toyota's manufacturing plant in Georgetown and Ford's truck assembly operation in Louisville also sponsor supply chain roles. Smaller third-party logistics firms concentrated around Louisville International Airport are additional sources of sponsorship, though their capacity varies by company size and hiring volume.
Which visa types are most common for supply chain manager roles in Kentucky?
The H-1B is the most common visa for supply chain managers in Kentucky, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, industrial engineering, or a related field. Candidates with advanced degrees may pursue H-1B cap exemptions through university-affiliated employers. The L-1A is relevant for managers transferring within multinational companies, particularly in automotive and logistics sectors with Kentucky operations.
Which cities in Kentucky have the most supply chain manager sponsorship jobs?
Louisville concentrates the majority of sponsorship opportunities, driven by its role as a major UPS global air hub and the presence of large distribution and e-commerce operations. Lexington supports demand through healthcare, manufacturing, and university-adjacent employers. Bowling Green sees activity tied to the automotive manufacturing corridor, including GM's Corvette plant and nearby suppliers. Georgetown and Elizabethtown also generate openings linked to Toyota's extensive Kentucky supplier network.
How to find supply chain manager visa sponsorship jobs in Kentucky?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international job seekers and filters supply chain manager roles in Kentucky by visa sponsorship availability, saving significant research time. Beyond browsing Migrate Mate, targeting employers with existing H-1B filing histories in Kentucky logistics and manufacturing sectors improves your odds. Focus applications on Louisville and Lexington, where sponsoring employers are most concentrated, and prioritize companies with dedicated HR or immigration support functions.
What should international supply chain managers know about Kentucky's hiring market?
Kentucky's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B supply chain manager positions are set by the Department of Labor using regional wage data, which may differ from national averages given Kentucky's cost-of-living profile. The state's automotive and logistics industries have strong ties to international supply chains, which can work in favor of candidates with global procurement or cross-border logistics experience. University of Kentucky and University of Louisville graduates with OPT authorization also create a pipeline employers are familiar with sponsoring.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored supply chain manager jobs in Kentucky?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
