Which companies sponsor visas for QA engineers in Louisiana?
CGI Federal, Lumen Technologies, and Entergy have sponsored QA engineering roles in Louisiana through H-1B visa filings. Defense contractors and IT services firms operating near Baton Rouge and New Orleans also appear regularly in Department of Labor disclosure data for QA-related petitions. Staffing firms with state government contracts occasionally sponsor as well, particularly for software testing roles tied to long-term infrastructure projects.
Which visa types are most common for QA engineer roles in Louisiana?
The H-1B is the most common visa for QA engineers in Louisiana, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Some QA engineers also enter on L-1B visas when transferring within a multinational company. Candidates from Australia may qualify for the E-3 visa, and those from Canada or Mexico may be eligible for TN visa status under the USMCA.
Which cities in Louisiana have the most QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Baton Rouge and New Orleans account for the majority of QA engineer sponsorship activity in Louisiana. Baton Rouge's concentration of energy companies, state government IT contractors, and LSU-affiliated technology initiatives creates consistent demand. New Orleans draws QA roles from healthcare systems, fintech startups, and logistics technology firms. Smaller pockets of activity exist in Shreveport, where regional healthcare networks and defense-adjacent employers hire QA professionals.
How to find qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Louisiana?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically to show roles where employers have a documented history of visa sponsorship, saving you from applying to positions that won't support international candidates. For QA engineer roles in Louisiana, you can narrow results by state and job category to surface openings at energy companies, IT services firms, and government contractors in Baton Rouge and New Orleans that have sponsored H-1B or other work visas previously.
Are there state-specific factors QA engineers should know when pursuing sponsorship in Louisiana?
Louisiana's QA engineering market is shaped heavily by the energy and petrochemical sector, so candidates with experience in industrial software testing, SCADA systems, or compliance-driven QA processes may find stronger employer interest. LSU and Tulane produce a steady pipeline of local graduates, so sponsored candidates often need to demonstrate specialized skills or experience that the local talent pool doesn't cover. Prevailing wage requirements for the H-1B still apply and are determined by the Standard Occupational Classification for software quality assurance roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored qa engineer jobs in Louisiana?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
