Companies with documented sponsorship histories include Leidos, Booz Allen Hamilton, Northrop Grumman, and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Academic medical centers such as Johns Hopkins University and the University of Maryland also sponsor international analysts, particularly for research-oriented data roles.
Which visa types are most common for data science analyst roles in Maryland?
The H-1B is the most common visa for data science analysts in Maryland, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical field such as statistics, computer science, or data science. Some analysts at universities or research institutions may also be sponsored under J-1 or O-1 categories depending on their background and employer type.
Which cities in Maryland have the most data science analyst sponsorship jobs?
Bethesda and Rockville in Montgomery County concentrate the highest volume of data science analyst sponsorship roles, driven by proximity to federal agencies, NIH, and major contractors. Baltimore is a strong secondary market, anchored by Johns Hopkins, healthcare systems, and financial services firms. Annapolis and the broader Baltimore-Washington corridor also have active hiring from defense and cybersecurity employers.
How to find data science analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Maryland?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to browse data science analyst openings in Maryland without sorting through roles that don't support international candidates. You can narrow results by location and role type to focus on Maryland employers with active H-1B sponsorship histories in the data science space.
Are there state-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for data science analysts in Maryland?
Maryland's high concentration of federal contractors means many data science analyst roles involve government contracts, which can add security clearance requirements that complicate or limit sponsorship for international candidates. Additionally, DOL prevailing wage determinations for Maryland, particularly in the DC metro counties, reflect a competitive regional market, which affects the wage levels employers must certify when filing H-1B petitions for data science roles.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data science analyst jobs in Maryland?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
