Which companies in Massachusetts sponsor visas for business development directors?
Life sciences and tech companies lead sponsorship activity for business development director roles in Massachusetts. Firms like Biogen, Moderna, HubSpot, PTC, and Raytheon Technologies have established sponsorship track records for senior commercial positions. Larger multinationals with established immigration programs are generally more prepared to sponsor, as they have legal infrastructure in place to handle H-1B visa and L-1 visa petitions for director-level hires.
Which visa types are most common for business development directors in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for business development director roles in Massachusetts, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as business administration, marketing, or a related discipline. The L-1A intracompany transferee visa is another common path for directors moving from a foreign affiliate into a Massachusetts-based operation. O-1B visas occasionally apply for candidates with exceptional industry recognition.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most business development director sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of business development director sponsorship opportunities in Massachusetts, driven by the Seaport District's tech sector, Kendall Square's life sciences cluster, and the Financial District's professional services firms. Waltham and Lexington also see significant activity, particularly in defense technology and biopharma. Burlington and Woburn host regional headquarters for companies that regularly hire at the director level.
How to find business development director visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship eligibility, making it easier to identify business development director roles in Massachusetts where employers have an active sponsorship history. Rather than sorting through general job boards and guessing at sponsorship willingness, Migrate Mate surfaces positions where sponsorship is confirmed or expected, saving time for candidates focused on senior commercial roles in the Boston metro and surrounding areas.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for business development directors seeking visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts employers must meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements when filing H-1B petitions for business development director roles, and the Boston metro area commands some of the higher prevailing wage determinations in the country for senior commercial positions. The state's university pipeline, including Harvard, MIT, and Northeastern, also means employers here are generally more experienced with international hiring, particularly for roles tied to research-adjacent commercial development in life sciences and technology.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored business development director jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
