Which companies sponsor visas for construction project managers in Massachusetts?
Large general contractors and construction management firms are the most consistent sponsors in Massachusetts. Suffolk Construction, Turner Construction, Skanska USA, and Gilbane Building Company have all filed H-1B visa Labor Condition Applications for project management roles. Larger firms tend to have established immigration processes, making them more likely to sponsor than smaller regional contractors or subcontractors.
Which visa types are most common for construction project manager roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project managers because the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with Canadian or Mexican citizenship may qualify for TN visa status under the USMCA. Managers with multinational employer backgrounds sometimes transfer on L-1 visas, though that requires an existing relationship with a qualifying overseas entity.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most construction project manager sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the majority of construction project manager openings in the state, driven by ongoing life sciences campuses, transit expansions, and high-rise development. Worcester has seen increased activity from healthcare and university construction projects. Quincy and Waltham also generate demand through corporate campus and infrastructure work, often for firms headquartered or regionally based in the Greater Boston area.
How to find construction project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Massachusetts construction project manager roles where employers are open to sponsoring. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can focus on firms that have a documented history of sponsoring project management talent in the state, saving significant time during your search.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for construction project managers pursuing visa sponsorship?
Massachusetts participates in the federal prevailing wage system, so H-1B employers must pay construction project managers at or above the DOL-determined prevailing wage for the specific location and role. The state's active public construction sector, including MBTA expansions and public university projects, involves additional procurement rules that can affect how firms staff and sponsor roles. Candidates with a Professional Engineer license or PMP certification often have stronger sponsorship prospects with firms bidding on complex public projects.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project manager jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
