Which companies sponsor visas for construction project managers in Tennessee?
Large national contractors with Tennessee operations, including Turner Construction, Skanska, and Brasfield and Gorrie, have histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for construction project managers. Regional firms managing industrial and infrastructure projects in Nashville and Knoxville also sponsor periodically. Sponsorship is more common at firms running multi-year, large-budget projects where specialized project management experience justifies the time and cost of the process.
Which visa types are most common for construction project manager roles in Tennessee?
The H-1B is the most common visa path for construction project managers, provided the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field. The L-1A is an option for managers transferring from a foreign affiliate of a U.S. firm. The O-1 is available for candidates with documented extraordinary achievement, though it is rarely pursued for standard project management positions.
How to find construction project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Tennessee?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship status and location, making it straightforward to search for construction project manager roles in Tennessee without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. You can narrow results by metro area, covering Nashville, Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Memphis, and focus on employers who have demonstrated sponsorship activity rather than relying on general job postings.
Which cities in Tennessee have the most construction project manager sponsorship jobs?
Nashville leads the state, fueled by sustained commercial, residential, and infrastructure development across the metro. Knoxville sees demand tied to industrial and university-adjacent construction, including activity near Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Chattanooga has grown as a manufacturing and logistics hub, generating construction management roles. Memphis, while more industrial in character, produces project management openings linked to logistics facilities and port-adjacent development.
Are there any Tennessee-specific considerations for construction project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Tennessee has no state income tax on wages, which affects total compensation context when evaluating offers, though prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B are set federally by the Department of Labor based on the specific county and role level. Tennessee's significant investment in EV manufacturing, particularly the Ford BlueOval City project in Stanton, has created demand for experienced project managers on large industrial builds, which tend to have longer timelines and more established sponsorship infrastructure.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project manager jobs in Tennessee?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
