Which companies sponsor visas for construction project managers in Wisconsin?
Large general contractors and construction management firms operating in Wisconsin are the most consistent visa sponsors for construction project managers. Companies like Gilbane Building Company, Mortenson Construction, J.H. Findorff & Son, and C.G. Schmidt have managed large-scale projects in Milwaukee and Madison that require experienced project management professionals. Multinational engineering and construction firms with Wisconsin offices are also worth targeting, as they typically have established HR and immigration infrastructure.
Which visa types are most common for construction project manager roles in Wisconsin?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project managers, provided the role qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a closely related field. The L-1A is another pathway for managers transferring within a multinational company. Some candidates with extraordinary achievement in the field may explore the O-1, though that standard is demanding. Each visa requires the employer to initiate and sponsor the petition.
Which cities in Wisconsin have the most construction project manager sponsorship jobs?
Milwaukee is Wisconsin's primary hub for construction project manager sponsorship jobs, driven by ongoing commercial development, healthcare facility expansion, and infrastructure investment. Madison follows closely, with major university construction programs at UW-Madison and steady state government project activity generating consistent demand. Green Bay and the Fox Valley corridor also see activity tied to manufacturing facility builds and regional infrastructure work.
How to find construction project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find construction project manager visa sponsorship jobs in Wisconsin, with listings filtered specifically for roles where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness. Focus your search on general contractors, construction management firms, and large engineering companies headquartered or with major project offices in Milwaukee, Madison, and Green Bay. Filtering by construction project manager on Migrate Mate helps surface relevant Wisconsin-based opportunities without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship.
Are there any state-specific considerations for construction project managers seeking visa sponsorship in Wisconsin?
Wisconsin follows federal prevailing wage requirements under the H-1B program, meaning sponsoring employers must pay the Department of Labor's prevailing wage for construction project manager roles in the specific Wisconsin metropolitan area where work is performed. Milwaukee and Madison have distinct wage determinations from smaller markets like Wausau or Eau Claire. Wisconsin also has active apprenticeship and trades infrastructure, but visa sponsorship for construction project managers is concentrated in firms handling commercial, institutional, and infrastructure projects rather than residential construction.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project manager jobs in Wisconsin?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
