Search Construction Project Manager Jobs in North DakotaConstruction Project Manager Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
Which companies sponsor visas for construction project managers in North Dakota?
Larger general contractors and energy infrastructure firms operating in North Dakota are the most likely sponsors for construction project managers. Companies involved in Bakken oil field development, pipeline construction, and large-scale civil projects, including national firms with North Dakota operations such as Mortenson Construction and Kiewit, have historically filed H-1B petitions for project management roles. Smaller regional firms sponsor less frequently due to cost and compliance complexity.
Which visa types are most common for construction project manager roles in North Dakota?
The H-1B is the most common visa for construction project managers, as the role generally qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field. The EB-3 employment-based immigrant visa is another pathway for employers willing to go through the PERM labor certification process. TN visas are available to Canadian and Mexican nationals in qualifying engineering-adjacent roles.
Which cities in North Dakota have the most construction project manager sponsorship jobs?
Fargo is North Dakota's largest city and its most active construction market, with ongoing commercial and residential development generating consistent demand for project managers. Bismarck, the state capital, sees significant public infrastructure and government-related construction activity. Williston and Dickinson in the western part of the state remain active due to oil and gas infrastructure work in the Bakken formation.
How to find construction project manager visa sponsorship jobs in North Dakota?
Migrate Mate is the most direct way to find construction project manager roles in North Dakota that include visa sponsorship. The platform filters specifically for employers open to sponsoring international workers, so you're not sorting through hundreds of listings that won't consider visa candidates. Focusing your search on Bakken-region infrastructure projects and Fargo-area commercial development will surface the most relevant opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for construction project managers seeking sponsorship in North Dakota?
North Dakota's construction market is closely tied to the energy sector, so demand for project managers fluctuates with oil prices and federal energy policy. Employers sponsoring construction project managers must pay the DOL prevailing wage for the role in the specific North Dakota county where work is performed, which varies between rural western counties and urban centers like Fargo. Professional Engineer (PE) licensure, while not always required, can strengthen an application significantly.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored construction project manager jobs in North Dakota?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
