Munters Corporation has recently built a new 432,000sf factory. Munters manufactures industrial dehumidifiers for the pharmaceutical, food and many other industries requiring dry conditioned air. We seek an intern who understands electrical layouts and engineering drawings, can organize the new drawings by referencing multiple data sources, can trace the cabling as needed, then mark up the drawings and then prepare revised drawings in CAD. This position would be ideal for an electrical engineer who is interested in the MEP field.

Which manufacturing companies sponsor J-1 visas in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts manufacturers that have sponsored J-1 visa holders include medical device companies clustered around Boston and the Route 128 corridor, defense contractors in the Greater Lowell area, and precision parts manufacturers in Worcester County. Companies in semiconductor fabrication, industrial automation, and aerospace components have historically participated in J-1 exchange visitor programs, though sponsorship availability changes with business cycles and program capacity.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most manufacturing J-1 sponsorship jobs?
Boston and the surrounding Route 128 technology belt account for a significant share of Massachusetts manufacturing J-1 opportunities, particularly in life sciences and medical devices. Worcester is a secondary hub for metal fabrication and industrial equipment firms. Springfield and the Pioneer Valley host plastics, precision machining, and defense-related manufacturers that periodically offer J-1 trainee placements in production and engineering departments.
What types of manufacturing roles typically qualify for J-1 sponsorship?
J-1 trainee and intern categories cover manufacturing roles tied to an applicant's field of study or prior professional experience. Common qualifying positions include quality assurance technician, manufacturing process engineer, production planning analyst, and industrial engineering intern. Roles must provide structured training with clear learning objectives, distinguishing them from ordinary employment. Hands-on work in regulated environments such as FDA-compliant medical device facilities often meets this structured training standard.
How do I find manufacturing J-1 sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate lists manufacturing employers in Massachusetts with verified J-1 sponsorship history, letting you filter by role type, location, and visa category in one place. Search for positions in cities like Boston, Worcester, or Lowell and filter by the manufacturing industry tag to surface relevant openings. Reviewing an employer's prior J-1 filing activity through Migrate Mate helps confirm genuine sponsorship capacity before you apply.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific considerations for J-1 manufacturing sponsorship?
Massachusetts requires J-1 trainees and interns to work through a designated sponsor organization, not directly through the manufacturing employer alone. The state's high concentration of FDA-regulated manufacturers means many placements involve compliance training that satisfies the J-1 structured program requirement. Workers should also be aware that Massachusetts has its own wage and hour laws that apply regardless of visa status, and host employers must still meet all state labor standards.
