Which companies sponsor visas for occupational therapists in Massachusetts?
The most active sponsors for occupational therapists in Massachusetts are large health systems and rehabilitation networks, including Mass General Brigham, Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, Boston Children's Hospital, UMass Memorial Health, and Tufts Medicine. Public school districts and pediatric therapy groups also sponsor OT roles, particularly for candidates with specialized experience in pediatrics, hand therapy, or neurorehabilitation.
Which visa types are most common for occupational therapist roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most common sponsorship pathway for occupational therapists in Massachusetts, as OT qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring at least a master's degree under current AOTA standards. Some employers also sponsor through the EB-3 employment-based green card for permanent roles. Candidates with eligibility for TN visa status (Canadian or Mexican nationals) may find that pathway available at larger health systems as well.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most occupational therapist sponsorship jobs?
Boston has the highest concentration of OT sponsorship opportunities in Massachusetts, driven by its density of academic medical centers and teaching hospitals. Worcester is a secondary hub, anchored by UMass Memorial Health and St. Vincent Hospital. Springfield and the Pioneer Valley also have consistent demand, particularly within Baystate Health and regional rehabilitation facilities serving western Massachusetts.
How to find occupational therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to find occupational therapist roles in Massachusetts where employers are actively willing to sponsor. You can narrow results by location, setting (hospital, school, outpatient), and visa type. This is more efficient than general job searches that don't distinguish between sponsoring and non-sponsoring employers.
Are there any state-specific considerations for occupational therapists seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts requires occupational therapists to hold a state license issued by the Board of Registration in Allied Health Professions before practicing. International candidates must have their foreign credentials evaluated for equivalency, and passing the NBCOT examination is a prerequisite for licensure. Employers sponsoring H-1B visa petitions must also meet Department of Labor prevailing wage requirements, which reflect Massachusetts's higher cost-of-living market in the Boston metro area.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored occupational therapist jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
