Which companies sponsor visas for occupational therapists in Oklahoma?
The most active sponsors for occupational therapist roles in Oklahoma include large hospital networks such as INTEGRIS Health, OU Health, and Mercy Health, as well as skilled nursing facility operators and rehabilitation companies like Select Rehabilitation and Kindred Healthcare. Long-term care and inpatient rehab settings tend to sponsor more consistently than outpatient private practices, which often lack the HR infrastructure to manage the sponsorship process.
Which visa types are most common for occupational therapist roles in Oklahoma?
Occupational therapists in Oklahoma most commonly come through the H-1B visa, which requires a qualifying specialty occupation and employer sponsorship, or the EB-3 employment-based green card for skilled workers. Some international OTs also enter through TN visa status if they are Canadian or Mexican nationals. Because occupational therapy requires a master's degree and state licensure, it generally meets H-1B specialty occupation requirements without significant difficulty.
Which cities in Oklahoma have the most occupational therapist sponsorship jobs?
Oklahoma City and Tulsa account for the majority of occupational therapist positions in the state, driven by their concentration of hospital systems, rehabilitation centers, and pediatric clinics. Smaller cities such as Norman, Edmond, and Lawton also have active demand, particularly in school-based and home health settings. Rural Oklahoma sees periodic sponsorship openings as facilities work to address persistent therapist shortages in underserved areas.
How to find occupational therapist visa sponsorship jobs in Oklahoma?
Migrate Mate is a job board built specifically for international candidates seeking visa sponsorship, making it a practical starting point for occupational therapist roles in Oklahoma. You can filter directly by state and role to see employers currently open to sponsoring OTs. Given that sponsorship availability changes frequently, checking Migrate Mate regularly and setting up alerts for Oklahoma occupational therapist positions helps you respond quickly when suitable openings appear.
Are there state-specific considerations for occupational therapists seeking sponsorship in Oklahoma?
International occupational therapists must obtain licensure from the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision before practicing, which requires passing the NBCOT exam and meeting educational equivalency standards. Employers sponsoring through H-1B must also file a Labor Condition Application certifying the offered wage meets Department of Labor prevailing wage levels for the specific Oklahoma location. Rural health shortage areas in Oklahoma may offer additional hiring incentives that make those placements more attractive to sponsoring employers.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored occupational therapist jobs in Oklahoma?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
