Which companies sponsor visas for operations interns in Massachusetts?
Large employers with established internship infrastructure are the most likely sponsors for operations intern roles in Massachusetts. Companies like Raytheon Technologies, Biogen, Liberty Mutual, and Fidelity Investments have historically supported international interns through OPT and CPT work authorization. Smaller startups in the Boston ecosystem occasionally sponsor as well, though large corporations with dedicated HR and immigration teams are far more consistent.
Which visa types are most common for operations intern roles in Massachusetts?
Most international students completing operations internships in Massachusetts work under F-1 OPT or CPT, which allows them to gain practical training without requiring a separate employer-filed petition. For post-graduation conversion, employers may file an H-1B visa petition, though this involves the annual lottery. Operations roles at qualifying cap-exempt institutions, such as universities or affiliated research organizations, may access H-1B outside the lottery.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most operations intern sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the greatest concentration of operations intern opportunities in Massachusetts, driven by their dense clusters of biotech, financial services, and technology employers. Waltham and Burlington host significant suburban office campuses for companies like Raytheon and TJX. Worcester is an emerging secondary market, particularly for healthcare operations roles connected to UMass Memorial and Hanover Insurance.
How to find operations intern visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters operations intern roles specifically by visa sponsorship availability and state, making it straightforward to identify Massachusetts employers actively open to international candidates. Because operations intern postings can be competitive in Boston's market, checking Migrate Mate regularly and setting up role-specific alerts helps ensure you see new sponsorship-eligible listings as soon as they appear, particularly during spring and fall recruiting cycles.
Are there state-specific considerations for operations interns seeking sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has a high concentration of universities with strong co-op and internship pipelines, particularly Northeastern University's co-op program, which means international students often have structured pathways into operations roles via CPT. The state's biotech and defense sectors are familiar with international talent and OPT timelines. However, smaller Massachusetts employers outside Boston may have limited immigration infrastructure, so verifying sponsorship capacity early in the application process is important.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored operations intern jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
