Which companies sponsor visas for personal assistants in Massachusetts?
Large institutional employers are the most consistent sponsors for personal assistant roles in Massachusetts. These include major hospitals such as Mass General Brigham and Boston Children's Hospital, financial services firms in the Financial District, biotech companies like Biogen and Moderna in Cambridge, and universities including Harvard and MIT. Smaller private households or boutique firms rarely sponsor work visas due to the administrative burden involved.
Which visa types are most common for personal assistant roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B visa is the most recognized work visa, but personal assistant roles often face scrutiny under the specialty occupation requirement, which demands a direct link between the position and a relevant bachelor's degree. Roles framed around executive operations, communications, or project coordination tend to have stronger H-1B eligibility. Candidates already holding O-1 visa or L-1 visa status through a prior employer may find more straightforward paths to sponsorship in this role category.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most personal assistant sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of personal assistant sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, driven by dense concentrations of biotech, finance, healthcare, and higher education employers. Newton, Waltham, and Quincy also see hiring from corporate campuses and private offices. Outside Greater Boston, Springfield and Worcester have a smaller but present market through regional hospital systems and mid-size businesses.
How to find personal assistant visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it easier to identify Massachusetts employers actively open to sponsoring personal assistant candidates. Rather than sorting through thousands of general postings, you can focus on roles where sponsorship is confirmed or indicated. Prioritizing large employers in Boston and Cambridge, particularly in biotech, healthcare, and finance, gives you the strongest pool of opportunities.
Are there any state-specific considerations for personal assistants seeking visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts has strong worker protection laws that apply regardless of immigration status, including paid family and medical leave requirements that sponsored employees are entitled to. The state's high concentration of H-1B-dependent employers in biotech and tech means many local companies already have established immigration compliance processes. Personal assistant roles tied to academic or research institutions may also qualify for cap-exempt H-1B sponsorship, depending on the employer's classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored personal assistant jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
