We Are
Synopsys is the leader in engineering solutions from silicon to systems, enabling customers to rapidly innovate AI-powered products. We deliver industry-leading silicon design, IP, simulation and analysis solutions, and design services. We partner closely with our customers across a wide range of industries to maximize their R&D capability and productivity, powering innovation today that ignites the ingenuity of tomorrow.
You Are
You have spent a decade or more in the semiconductor world, moving from hands-on engineering into the harder work of making sure complex projects actually ship on time, on spec, and with the customer still trusting you at the end. You know that managing a Mixed-Signal IP or ASIC project is not about Gantt charts, it is about reading the room when a design review goes sideways, knowing which risk to escalate and which to solve quietly, and keeping five teams aligned without becoming the bottleneck.
You have led other project managers, and you understand that mentorship is not about templates, it is about teaching someone how to have the hard conversation with a customer before the schedule slips, not after. You do not manage by decree. You build alignment across engineering, sales, and support because you have learned that the best project plan in the world falls apart if the field team was not part of building it.
At Synopsys, you will lead a portfolio of semiconductor IP projects that matter, with a team that knows the difference between process for its own sake and process that actually makes delivery better.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead a team of project engineering managers across Mixed-Signal IP, SOC, and ASIC product lines, providing coaching, direction, and accountability for delivery outcomes
- Own and refine project management processes, tooling, and best practices across the portfolio, ensuring consistency without creating bureaucracy
- Track portfolio health using metrics that matter, analyze trends, and surface risks or bottlenecks before they become crises
- Partner with engineering leaders, sales, and customer-facing teams to align project priorities, manage expectations, and resolve cross-functional friction
- Communicate project status, risk, and tradeoffs to senior leadership and customers in language that drives decisions, not just updates
- Guide teams through complex risk mitigation, schedule recovery, and scope negotiation on high-stakes customer engagements
- Drive post-project retrospectives and lessons learned, turning what went wrong into what we do differently next time
The Impact You Will Have
- Deliver semiconductor IP projects that ship on time and meet customer expectations, directly enabling product launches across automotive, AI, and mobile markets
- Build a stronger bench of project managers who can lead with confidence, handle ambiguity, and earn customer trust
- Improve project predictability and delivery quality across the portfolio through smarter processes and better risk management
- Strengthen Synopsys' reputation as a reliable partner in high-stakes semiconductor development programs
- Create feedback loops between field teams and engineering that make future projects easier to scope and execute
- Influence how Synopsys approaches customer engagement, technical delivery, and cross-functional collaboration at scale
- Help shape the next generation of Mixed-Signal IP and SOC solutions by ensuring engineering priorities align with real customer needs
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
- 10+ years of experience in project or program management within semiconductor, ASIC, SOC, or Mixed-Signal IP development environments
- Proven track record leading other project managers or technical program leads, not just managing projects yourself
- Deep understanding of semiconductor product development cycles, including design, verification, tapeout, and customer delivery milestones
- Experience managing customer expectations through difficult tradeoffs, schedule pressure, and technical complexity
- Proficiency with project management tools and methodologies, experience with Jira, MS Project, or similar platforms is a plus
- Track record working across engineering, sales, marketing, and support teams to drive alignment and resolve conflict
Who You Are
- You can walk into a tense customer meeting, listen to what is not being said, and steer the conversation toward a solution that keeps the project moving
- You know when to let your team solve a problem and when to step in, and you are comfortable being wrong as long as the team learns something
- You treat process as a tool, not a religion, and you will simplify or kill a workflow if it is not adding value
- You can explain a complex technical risk to a VP in two sentences without losing the nuance, and you can do the same for a customer exec who has never designed a chip
- You stay calm when three projects are at risk at the same time, and you help your team do the same
- You believe that diversity of thought makes better decisions, and you actively create space for quieter voices in the room
The Team You'll Be Part Of
You will join a team of engineering leaders and project managers who collaborate across Mixed-Signal IP, SOC, and ASIC product lines to deliver semiconductor solutions that power AI, automotive, and mobile innovation. The team operates in a global, cross-functional environment where technical depth and customer partnership are both part of the job.

Which companies sponsor visas for senior project managers in Massachusetts?
Large Massachusetts employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for project management roles include Raytheon Technologies, Biogen, Moderna, MathWorks, Liberty Mutual, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Defense, life sciences, and enterprise software companies tend to have established immigration programs and in-house counsel that make sponsorship more accessible for senior-level candidates than smaller firms.
Which visa types are most common for senior project management roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa for senior project managers in Massachusetts, typically supported by a bachelor's or advanced degree in engineering, computer science, or business combined with demonstrated specialization. Candidates already holding L-1A or L-1B status through multinational employers also pursue these roles. O-1A petitions are possible but require substantial evidence of extraordinary achievement in the field.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most senior project management sponsorship jobs?
Greater Boston and Cambridge account for the largest concentration of sponsored senior project management roles, driven by the biotech corridor, academic medical centers, and financial services firms. Worcester has a growing presence in defense and manufacturing project management. The Route 128 technology belt connecting Waltham, Burlington, and Lexington also hosts significant demand, particularly from enterprise software and defense contractors.
How to find senior project management visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search senior project management roles in Massachusetts without sifting through positions that won't support your visa. Focus on life sciences, defense, and enterprise technology employers, as these sectors in Massachusetts have the most established sponsorship programs. Migrate Mate surfaces current openings from verified sponsoring employers in the state.
Are there state-specific considerations for senior project managers pursuing visa sponsorship in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts is a high cost-of-living state, and the Department of Labor's prevailing wage determinations for senior project management roles reflect that. Employers must certify on the Labor Condition Application that they will pay at least the prevailing wage for the occupational classification and geographic area. The concentration of PMP-certified and technically specialized candidates in the Boston market means employers generally expect advanced credentials alongside strong industry-specific experience.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior project management jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
