Which companies sponsor visas for senior project managers in Washington DC?
Federal contractors and consulting firms account for a large share of sponsorship activity in the DC area. Booz Allen Hamilton, Leidos, SAIC, Deloitte, and Accenture Federal Services have consistent histories of sponsoring H-1B visas for senior project management roles. Large technology firms with DC offices, including Amazon Web Services and Microsoft, also sponsor for program and project management positions regularly.
Which visa types are most common for senior project management roles in Washington DC?
The H-1B is the most common visa for senior project managers in DC. USCIS classifies project management as a specialty occupation when the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field such as business, engineering, or information systems. Candidates with advanced degrees may also pursue the EB-2 or EB-3 employment-based green card through their sponsoring employer after establishing a work history in the role.
How to find senior project management visa sponsorship jobs in Washington DC?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, making it straightforward to identify senior project management openings in the DC area without sorting through roles that don't offer sponsorship. The platform covers federal contractor positions, technology firms, and consulting companies active in the DC metro region. Searching by role and location on Migrate Mate surfaces opportunities where employers have indicated sponsorship willingness.
Which areas in Washington DC have the most senior project management sponsorship jobs?
Most sponsorship activity clusters in the DC metro area broadly rather than the District itself. Northern Virginia cities like Arlington, Tysons, and Reston are particularly active due to the concentration of federal contractors and technology companies. Bethesda and Rockville in Maryland also generate senior PM openings, especially from health-focused agencies and contractors supporting the NIH and FDA.
Are there any DC-specific considerations for senior project managers seeking visa sponsorship?
Many senior project management roles in DC tied to federal contracts require security clearances, which can complicate sponsorship since non-citizens face significant barriers to obtaining clearances. Non-cleared roles with the same contractors or in commercial technology divisions are more accessible. PMP certification is frequently listed as a requirement rather than a preference in this market, and it can strengthen an H-1B petition by reinforcing the specialty occupation classification.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored senior project management jobs in Washington DC?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
