Which companies sponsor visas for software QA engineers in Massachusetts?
Massachusetts-based employers with documented H-1B sponsorship histories for QA and software testing roles include MathWorks, Akamai Technologies, HubSpot, Raytheon Technologies, and Biogen. The greater Boston biotech corridor and Cambridge's concentration of software and life sciences companies also produce consistent QA hiring with sponsorship. Larger employers in the defense and enterprise software sectors tend to have the most structured sponsorship processes.
Which visa types are most common for software QA engineer roles in Massachusetts?
The H-1B is the most common visa category for software QA engineers in Massachusetts, as the role typically qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Some candidates with extraordinary achievement may explore the O-1A. International graduates from Massachusetts universities often begin on F-1 OPT or STEM OPT before their employer files an H-1B petition.
Which cities in Massachusetts have the most software QA engineer sponsorship jobs?
Boston and Cambridge account for the largest share of software QA engineer sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts, driven by concentrations of biotech, fintech, and enterprise software companies. The Route 128 corridor, including Burlington, Waltham, and Marlborough, is another active hub with established tech employers. Worcester has a smaller but growing presence, particularly near its university cluster.
How to find software qa engineer visa sponsorship jobs in Massachusetts?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for visa sponsorship, making it easier to identify Massachusetts employers actively hiring software QA engineers with sponsorship available. Rather than sorting through general job boards, Migrate Mate surfaces roles where sponsorship is part of the posting. Focusing your search on the Greater Boston and Route 128 areas will return the highest volume of relevant QA openings in the state.
Are there any Massachusetts-specific factors that affect visa sponsorship for software QA engineers?
Massachusetts has one of the highest concentrations of H-1B-dependent employers in the country, particularly in biotech and enterprise software. The state's university pipeline, including MIT, Boston University, and Northeastern, supplies a large share of OPT and STEM OPT candidates who transition to H-1B sponsorship. Prevailing wage requirements for QA engineers in the Boston metropolitan area reflect the region's higher cost of living, which employers must account for in LCA filings.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored software qa engineer jobs in Massachusetts?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
