Which medical devices companies in Michigan sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Stryker, headquartered in Kalamazoo, is one of the most active CPT employers in Michigan's medical devices industry, along with Gentex, Autocam Medical, and Perrigo. Larger manufacturers with established HR infrastructure and university recruitment partnerships tend to be more familiar with CPT authorization requirements. Smaller contract manufacturers may also offer CPT placements, particularly through formal co-op agreements with Michigan universities.
Which cities in Michigan have the most medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Kalamazoo leads due to Stryker's global headquarters and its surrounding supplier network. Grand Rapids has a growing concentration of medical manufacturing and life sciences firms. The Detroit metro area, including Auburn Hills and Ann Arbor, also generates CPT opportunities, partly driven by proximity to University of Michigan and Wayne State University, which have established industry co-op pipelines with local employers.
What types of medical devices roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that directly align with a student's field of study are eligible for CPT authorization. In Michigan's medical devices sector, this commonly includes mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, quality assurance, regulatory affairs, manufacturing engineering, and R&D positions. Software and data roles within medical technology divisions at larger companies also appear regularly. The key requirement is that the position must be an integral part of the student's established curriculum.
How do I find medical devices F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters medical devices F-1 CPT jobs in Michigan so you are not sorting through postings from employers unfamiliar with CPT authorization. Beyond Migrate Mate, your university's co-op or career services office often maintains direct relationships with Michigan medical devices employers like Stryker and Autocam Medical that have structured CPT hiring programs already in place.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the medical devices industry?
Michigan's medical devices employers frequently hire through formal co-op programs tied to universities like Michigan State, University of Michigan, and Western Michigan University, which simplifies the CPT authorization process since these arrangements are curriculum-integrated by design. Some employers, particularly in regulated manufacturing environments, also require background checks or drug screenings that can affect start timelines, so coordinating your CPT authorization dates carefully with your DSO and employer is important.
