Job Summary
Stewart is transforming real estate services with modern, AI‑powered engineering. Our teams work in iterative cycles, adapt quickly, and build software that ships to real users. Interns join active product squads and contribute to technology that impacts customers nationwide.
This is not a support role or a ticket-queue assignment. You will be embedded in our Enterprise App Development team in Plymouth, MI, working on production software that supports Stewart’s title operations nationwide. You’ll own a meaningful piece of work from kickoff through delivery, with mentorship from senior engineers and direct exposure to real design and architectural decisions. Depending on your assignment, you may be working on our modern cloud-native platform or our established on-premises enterprise platform—both are in active production and both have real engineering challenges worth solving.
What You’ll Do
- Own a scoped engineering project with defined deliverables and real business value—your work ships
- Write production-quality code in a large, real-world enterprise application used by customers across the country
- Work directly with dev leads and senior engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and pair programming
- Use modern AI development tools (Claude, GitHub Copilot) as a natural part of your workflow
- Participate in planning sessions, stand-ups, and sprint ceremonies alongside the full team
- Prototype and iterate on features—expect to build, get feedback, and refine, not just execute a spec
What You Bring
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Completed coursework in both data structures and algorithms (combined or separate courses)
- Be able to fulfill the duties of the role in a full-time, in-person environment for the duration of your internship, located in Plymouth, MI
- Strong programming fundamentals—we care far more about how you think and solve problems than which language you know best
- Self-motivated and comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy; you don’t need someone looking over your shoulder to stay on track
- Genuine excitement about building something that matters—you want to see your work running in production, not sitting in a repo
- Curiosity about AI-assisted development and an interest in how LLMs are changing the way software gets built
- Be open and available to travel to Houston, TX throughout the program, as the program demands (travel to be paid for by Stewart)
- Be eligible to legally work in the country in which you are applying, without company sponsorship or time restriction
Why Stewart
You’ll spend ten weeks building real software on a platform used in production—not polishing a demo that gets shelved in August. You’ll work alongside engineers who care deeply about craft, have access to senior mentorship, and leave with a project you can talk about credibly in any technical interview. We’re a national company with the resources to invest in your development and a local team small enough that your contributions are visible.
Benefits
Stewart offers eligible employees a competitive benefits package that includes, but is not limited to a variety of health and wellness insurance options and programs, paid time off, 401(k) with company match, employee stock purchase program, and employee discounts.
Stewart is committed to ensuring that its online application process provides an equal employment opportunity to all job seekers, including individuals with disabilities. If you have a disability and need assistance or an accommodation in the application process, please contact us by email at careers@stewart.com.

Which insurance companies in Michigan are known to sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Auto-Owners Insurance, headquartered in Lansing, and Accident Fund Holdings are among Michigan's larger carriers with internship and co-op programs that have accommodated F-1 CPT students. AAA of Michigan and Hanover Insurance's Michigan offices also hire for structured internship tracks. That said, CPT sponsorship is not guaranteed at any employer and depends on the specific role, the DSO's approval, and the student's program requirements aligning with the work.
Which cities in Michigan have the most insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, particularly Southfield and Troy, host the densest concentration of insurance employers in Michigan, driven by the state's auto insurance market. Lansing is significant given its status as the state capital and home to several major carriers and regulatory bodies. Grand Rapids has a growing financial services sector with insurance representation. Students at Michigan State, Wayne State, or University of Michigan are well-positioned for proximity to these hiring hubs.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that connect directly to a student's degree field are most likely to qualify for CPT authorization. In Michigan's insurance sector, that typically includes actuarial analyst internships for math or statistics students, underwriting assistant roles for business or finance majors, data analytics positions for computer science students, and risk management internships for students in related programs. Compliance and claims roles may also qualify depending on the student's field of study and DSO evaluation.
How do I find insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, so you can search insurance roles in Michigan without sifting through positions that won't work for your status. Beyond the platform, Michigan's insurance industry has a strong presence at university career fairs, particularly at Michigan State and University of Michigan, where carriers actively recruit. Reaching out to DSO offices early is important since CPT authorization must be in place before you start any role.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for F-1 CPT sponsorship in the insurance industry?
Michigan's no-fault auto insurance system is unique nationally and has historically driven strong demand for actuarial, fraud analytics, and claims professionals, making it a more active CPT hiring market than many other states for insurance-adjacent roles. Michigan also has several Big Ten universities whose DSO offices are experienced with CPT processing for insurance and finance internships. One practical note: some Michigan carriers operate on seasonal hiring cycles tied to academic semesters, so timing your applications to align with those windows improves your chances.
