Which healthcare companies sponsor F-1 CPT visas in Michigan?
Michigan's largest health systems are among the most active for F-1 CPT placements. Henry Ford Health, Corewell Health (formerly Beaumont), Michigan Medicine at the University of Michigan, Sparrow Health System, and McLaren Health Care have histories of working with international students in CPT-eligible roles. Smaller regional hospitals and outpatient clinics also participate, particularly when partnered with Michigan universities that have established CPT frameworks.
Which cities in Michigan have the most healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, including Dearborn, Troy, and Royal Oak, host the highest concentration of healthcare CPT opportunities given the density of Henry Ford and Corewell facilities there. Ann Arbor is a strong second, driven by Michigan Medicine and university-affiliated research programs. Grand Rapids, home to Corewell Health's west Michigan campuses and Frederik Meijer Heart and Vascular Institute, is a growing market for healthcare CPT roles.
What types of healthcare roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in Michigan?
Roles that qualify must directly relate to your degree program and receive authorization from your school's Designated School Official. Common qualifying positions in Michigan include health informatics analyst, clinical research coordinator, public health program assistant, healthcare data analyst, hospital administration intern, and medical billing and coding specialist. Roles requiring independent clinical licensure before graduation, such as practicing physician or registered nurse, are generally not CPT-eligible at the student stage.
How do I find healthcare F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students searching for CPT-eligible positions and filters jobs by visa type, state, and industry. For healthcare F-1 CPT jobs in Michigan, you can browse verified listings across Detroit, Ann Arbor, and Grand Rapids on Migrate Mate without sifting through postings that don't support international students. Pairing that with outreach to your university's career center, which often maintains employer relationships with Michigan health systems, strengthens your search.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in healthcare?
Michigan universities vary in how they structure CPT authorization, and some require the CPT position to be part of a formally enrolled practicum or internship course. Healthcare roles in Michigan may also require background checks, immunization verification, and HIPAA training before a start date, which can affect your CPT start timeline. Students at Michigan State University, Wayne State University, and the University of Michigan should confirm CPT eligibility with their DSO well before accepting any offer.
