INTRODUCTION
Founded in 1977 as the Senior Care Action Network, SCAN began with a simple but radical idea: that older adults deserve to stay healthy and independent. That belief was championed by a group of community activists we still honor today as the “12 Angry Seniors.” Their mission continues to guide everything we do.
Today, SCAN is a nonprofit health organization serving more than 500,000 people across Arizona, California, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington, with over $8 billion in annual revenue. With nearly five decades of experience, we have built a distinctive, values-driven platform dedicated to improving care for older adults.
Our work spans Medicare Advantage, fully integrated care models, primary care, care for the most medically and socially complex populations, and next-generation care delivery models. Across all of this, we are united by a shared commitment: combining compassion with discipline, innovation with stewardship, and growth with integrity.
At SCAN, we believe scale should strengthen—not dilute—our mission. We are building the future of care for older adults, grounded in purpose, accountability, and respect for the people and communities we serve.

Which insurance companies in California sponsor F-1 CPT visas?
Farmers Insurance, based in Los Angeles, has historically hosted CPT interns in actuarial and analytics functions. Pacific Life, Transamerica, and several large reinsurance firms operating in San Francisco have also brought on CPT students. Sponsorship availability changes each hiring cycle, so confirming directly with a company's HR or university recruiting team is the most reliable approach before applying.
Which cities in California have the most insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs?
Los Angeles leads in volume given the concentration of major carriers and specialty insurance firms headquartered there. San Francisco and the broader Bay Area attract CPT candidates for insurtech and data-focused roles, while Sacramento sees activity tied to state-regulated insurance programs. San Diego has a smaller but active market, particularly for risk management roles connected to financial services firms.
What types of insurance roles typically qualify for F-1 CPT sponsorship in California?
Roles that align directly with a student's degree field qualify for CPT authorization. In insurance, this commonly includes actuarial intern positions (for mathematics or statistics students), underwriting analyst roles (business or finance students), data science and predictive modeling roles (computer science or analytics students), and risk management positions (finance or economics students). The role must be integral to or a required component of the student's academic program.
How do I find insurance F-1 CPT sponsorship jobs in California?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for international students and filters jobs by visa type, including F-1 CPT, and by industry and state. Searching insurance roles in California on Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have indicated CPT sponsorship availability, saving significant time compared to manually screening postings. Pairing that with outreach to your university's DSO to confirm CPT eligibility for a specific offer is the recommended process.
Are there any California-specific considerations for F-1 CPT in the insurance industry?
California's Department of Insurance regulates licensure requirements that can affect certain roles. Some insurance positions, particularly in sales or client-facing underwriting, may require a California state insurance license, which has its own eligibility criteria separate from CPT authorization. Internship and analyst roles in actuarial, data, or operations functions generally avoid licensure requirements. Students should clarify with their prospective employer whether the specific role requires any state licensing before accepting an offer.
