Which companies sponsor visas for procurement managers in Michigan?
Michigan's largest visa sponsors for procurement roles are concentrated in automotive and manufacturing. General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Stellantis, Whirlpool, and Dow Chemical have all filed Labor Condition Applications for procurement and supply chain positions. Large defense contractors and tier-one automotive suppliers operating in the Detroit metro area also have established sponsorship track records for qualified procurement professionals.
Which visa types are most common for procurement manager roles in Michigan?
The H-1B is the most common visa for procurement managers in Michigan, as the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or engineering, meeting the specialty occupation standard. Candidates with multinational employer relationships may also qualify for the L-1A intracompany transferee visa. Those with exceptional professional recognition may explore the O-1, though this is far less common for procurement roles.
Which cities in Michigan have the most procurement manager sponsorship jobs?
Detroit and its suburbs, including Dearborn, Auburn Hills, and Warren, account for the largest share of procurement manager sponsorship activity due to the concentration of automotive OEMs and suppliers. Grand Rapids is a secondary market with manufacturing, healthcare, and consumer goods employers. Midland has notable activity through Dow's global procurement operations, and Ann Arbor attracts procurement roles tied to university research supply chains and tech-adjacent firms.
How to find procurement manager visa sponsorship jobs in Michigan?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search procurement manager roles in Michigan without sorting through positions that won't consider international candidates. The platform surfaces employers in Michigan's automotive, manufacturing, and industrial sectors that have active sponsorship histories. Setting up alerts for procurement manager openings in Detroit, Grand Rapids, and surrounding areas gives you early visibility into new postings.
Are there any Michigan-specific considerations for procurement manager sponsorship candidates?
Michigan's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B procurement manager roles reflect the state's manufacturing-heavy economy, and employers must certify wages meet Department of Labor standards before filing. Michigan State University and the University of Michigan produce supply chain graduates who sometimes influence local hiring pipelines, meaning competition for entry-level roles can be strong. Candidates with automotive-specific procurement experience, including direct materials sourcing or supplier development, are generally more competitive with Michigan sponsors.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored procurement manager jobs in Michigan?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
